Guest guest
Hi everyone, My 4.5 year old daughter's IEP is coming up in a few weeks. She is classified as PPI and SLI, and qualifies to be in her inclusive school readiness class for one more year. Her current IEP states she will receive 20-30 minutes of speech therapy 1-3 x week. Now that I am more educated about 's needs, I see that this give a whole lot of leeway. They could get away with giving her 20 min. of therapy once a week. Please, don't misunderstand me, her ST is great. But our RESD is very understaffed, and all of the STs are spread way to thin. What can I do, for her next IEP, to insure that she receives more therapy next year? What kind of " comebacks " are there for the usual lines the RESD representative is sure to give me, to makes excuses as to why they can't do that? Even though my daughter has been receiving services, beginning with EI at about two months old, the IEP process is still rather new to me. Any advice is appreciated!
