Guest guest
I have a 2 year old son who has quad CP. Here's a little background on him: he started going into distress 7 hours prior to delivery from a tight cord. His skull was then fractured by forceps at the time of delivery causing bleeding of the brain. His main diagnosis is HIE (Hypoxic Ischemic Encephalopathy) . He has other problems stemming from it including quad cp (he can crawl very fast, walk along the couch and pull up on just about anything!) G-tube but can eat mostly now by mouth and speech delays. I'm not quite sure what constitutes him having apraxia. Noone has mentioned this to me. I know that since he has feeding problems he will had speech problems due to poor oral motors skills but his eating has improved 150 % yet nothing with his speech. He doesn't say words but when you ask him to point them out, he does. All his words (when he is prompted to speak) sound alike. Ba- ba for bubbles and wa-wa for water sound alike. You see him stuggling trying to form the word but it mostly comes out as " ba " . He receives EI every other week including PT,OT, ST, and feeding therapy. We are looking into hippotherapy and maybe trying PROEFA. Any comments on these therapies would be appreciated too. Sorry to babble but I just don't know what else to do for my son. I'm still waiting on him to call me " momma " . , ph's mom
