Guest guest
Hello Everyone: I don't know if you remember but I have AETNA PPO insurance and they denied me insurance even after I submitted everything I had on my boys evaluations, and fought for almost a year. But because my benefit coordinator of where I work and my union, my college in which I work for, CHANGED their contract with AENTA and NOW they are going to pay for speech. THANK GOD!!! I have verbal dyspraxic twins and private speech is not cheap and their school speech therapists " stinks " . I know for a FACT that if I was alone, no matter what I had done ATENA would have denied me. So people, please get your Benefits Coordinator where your work involved, that is their job.. Guest guest
I also have Aetna and the have been horrible about my son's speech. I was told that every Aetna plan only covered 60 consecutive days of speech (what a joke!). What exactly changed for you that made the speech get covered? Thank you in advance for you input. Guest guest
I just posted about my insurance denying me. I have AETNA PPO also. I have twins also with apraxia, and their school therapist is awful. What did you submit that got Aetna to supply the speech? Guest guest
Hi, I saw your post about your insurance company Aetna paying for your twin sons speech. How many sessions are they allowing. Thanks, Kathy
Guest guest
Hello To everyone responding regarding AETNA PPO; Let me tell you AETNA is horrible they do not like to cover speech AT ALL, one year long battle and alot of tears. BUT I got them. In my case we had a previous insurance that covered speech and when AETNA took over our insurance plan, they told me they would cover any ongoing medical services. Well I went to AETNA rep. and I told her THREE x's, are u sure u are going to pay for my sons speech services (my job's benefit coordinator was there with me when I asked which helped) and the representative said YES. Well one whole year of fighting and then they denied me. SO my union and my benefit coordinator went to AETNA and told them that part of their contract with my job was to cover on going services. SO, they had to change the wording in the whole contract to cover speech services that are " MEDICAL NECESSITY " and take out of the contract that would grant speech services only for " RESTORED SPEECH " . I don't know if this helps you guys. As far as I know their speech is now covered untill they don't need it anymore??? We will see??? But the only thing that helped me is my benefit coordinator of a NYC College where I work was behind me, and they are the ones who fought just as hard. And that is what mattered the most because AETNA would have lost their contract with the college?? SO, I hope this helps all you, but you need your JOB behind you..and get them involved in your sons speech services.........JOYA
