How frustrating!

Hi, I'm sure some of you may relate to how I am feeling now. Corey is 2 and is

trying so hard to talk. He can say " u " for " up " , but when we ask for the " p "

sound at the end, using cued articulation, it turns into " pu " . Now " bus " which

used to be " bu " is also " pu " , or even " s-pu " when he tries really hard. He is

also saying " dark " while breathing in instead of beathing out. It is so hard to

watch him struggle with what comes so naturally to others. It was hard before

he started trying, but it is hard now too. It is going to be a long struggle.

He is so clever...He has learnt all his colours and developed a sign for each of

them...for example " purple " is a sleep sign because Jeff (from The Wiggles)

wears purple and always falls asleep. It took a while for us to work out what

some signs mean, he uses so many and invents his own. At least he is

communicating...I just wish that talking was easier for him.

Mama to Corey (just turned 2)

(I was Mimi, then Mima, now he's back to calling me Mama...much easier than

saying mummy)
