Guest guest
Dear Dodi, Believe me you are so not alone. My husband was in the denial stage, and it was a horrible time since I was still trying to find out what was Jack's issues. Not only was it my husband but his EI that he attended, so much so that when I had made the appt. to go see a developmental ped. and SLP, the EI teacher actually called my house asking me questions, like Who is paying for this eval? I don't think you are going to get any answers you are looking for. THey were still convinced when Jack was 28 months that he was just delayed, as my husband! But what helped was taking my husband to the appt. where they were the ones telling him not me that Jack has a severe speech disorder (Apraxia) Sensory intergration dysfunction and maybe a mild auditory processing disorder. While it was hard on my quest and fight to find the answers I was looking for I knew my son needed me for I was his only hope his only voice and his only support at the time! That is what will get you through and of course This site and others was my only source of support! My husband did come to accept Jack's issues but it took him a long time. I know most men not all have a difficult time coming to the realization that they have produced a child that may not be 100%, a scarry fact but true. hope this helps and please don't listen to anyone else just listen to yourself and your instincts.
