Guest guest Posted April 5, 2002 Report Share Posted April 5, 2002 One of the commission members (Washington state sped director) stated: " AS WE EXAMINE THESE ISSUES, I HOPE WE CAN BEAR IN MIND THAT OUR GOAL IS TO DO WHAT’S BEST FOR CHILDREN – NOT WHAT’S BEST FOR “THE SYSTEM†OR WHAT’S BEST FOR ONE GOVERNMENT AGENCY OR ANOTHER. " One (actually many) of our local sped director's public comments during the VA regs revision: " Only use the minimum federal requirements. " and last year at annual plan time: " These local procedures, as submitted, meet state requirements.
