Guest guest
Hi everyone, Here in Australia, early intervention is obviously run differently to you in the USA. Despite my son being diagnosed as " severe dypraxia " , I can only get appointments with the Speach Therapist every few weeks. I rang for an apointment today and was told I must wait 3 weeks for another one (we last saw her 3 weeks ago). I don't want to wait so I might ask if anyone " out there " may have some suggestions. He has started doing strange things with words that he has previously said well. I've noticed extra vowel sounds added to the ends of these words e.g. " gone " was " done " (same middle sound) but is now " do-nee " , " help " is now " el-pa " and there are several more situations where " ee " or " ah " are added to the end. It is making him even harder to understand and the words are changing everyday. Why is he doing this and how do I help him sort it all out? Any advise appreciated...Thanks PS I was a special Ed teacher before baby arrived so lack of therapy isn't a huge problem unless something " weird " like this happens.
