Guest guest
Hi! The only improvements I have seen so far are in speech and I guess cognitive/self help. - like she tries to throw away her garbage now and hands me her dishes and answers questions. Receptive seems better, but has always been at age level. She also sleeps much better. She used to wake up every 1-2 hours and now only 1 or 2 times a night from 8-7. The only " bad " things I've seen is loose stools (may be a bug, but I haven't given her milk of magenesia for 1 week now. Before ProEFA she took MOM daily for chronic constipation for the last year. She hasn't had any other bug symptoms. So I don't know what is affecting her stools.), gas, decrease in appetite (but again if she has a stomach bug this could be causing the decrease in appetite). I worry about the decrease in appetite the most because of her weight gaining problems. Her PT noted that her strength and muscle tone have improved but she is still very clumsy. I haven't noticed any improvement in fine motor. Overall I have noticed improvement. No " big " thing like talking in sentences or a lot more words, but more consistency and attention. Just seems to be more " there " and in tune to the world around her instead of in her own little world. She also seems to have more energy. Even her ped noted this at our last appt last Thursday. (he doesn't know we started the EFA because I'm supposed to be waiting on his ok from the pharmicist - I decided not to wait. Our nutritionist said there was no harm and seems to me she would know best)) I haven't seen any improvements in the SI issues. BUT we have only been taking them for 14 days so far! Guest guest
Hey I forgot to mention she is more demanding now. She used to be so passive and content to just sit there and smile. Now she is always demanding my attention. I don't know if it is related to the ProEFA or not, but it is a change that has come about in the past 2 weeks. Guest guest
Hi, Traci. Wow! This is what happened with Wiley on the supplement - gas and looser stools and he was seriously constipated all the time before Proefa too. I'm a little weary now about giving it to him again - last Friday he had really bad diarrhea and it caused him A LOT of discomfort - I worry that it'll come right back. What a bummer. I was really hoping his system could handle it. Interesting to see someone else write in about the tummy effects of proefa. Guess I'll try a little less each day if I start again. Guest guest
Traci - Just an FYI - I understand that milk intolerance (not allergy) can cause both diarrhea and constipation. Often they cycle. Just a thought... Marina > Hi! Guest guest
Thanks. She has been on milk for almost a year now and this is her her 1st bout w/ diarrhea. She has had constipation since she was 6 mo. Tonight she is running a fever and coughing, so I am guessing it is a virus causing all of this and has nothing to do w/ ProEFA. But, she doesn't have diarrhea anymore!! Yeah! Guest guest
Loose stool is a common side effect, but i think they suggest starting with a lower dose and taking it with food. I read somewhere about the absorbtion rate changing eventually. ----- Original Message ----- > Hi, Traci. Wow!
