Hello,

A while back an issue was raised regarding Community Services Board's

charging for case management for individuals not yet eligible for Medicaid.

Some CSBs thought they could charge a case management fee to people for MR

Waiver screening or to be maintained on a waiting list for MR Waiver

services.

Martha , Director of Mental Retardation Services at DMHMRSAS, has

reported that the federal Medicaid agency, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid

Services (CMS), has clarified that -

CSBs cannot charge for determining Medicaid eligibility (screening) nor can

they require the individual receive case management to stay on the MR Waiver

waiting lists.
