Guest guest
Guess that is in India. I was wondering where in the US they still " pick " cotton. I live here in this ____ hole called TX, (for me, I love green and big trees so I am not too happy living here in the state that claims dubya;) that grows alot of cotton, Waxahachie TX was featured in the movie Places In The Heart. They spray herbicides on it before they harvest it also so was thinking that that was what killed the sheep till I noticed in the footnotes the refs were in India??? I wanted to pick some cotton so I could say I did it, till I saw the brown dead mess. I would not even set foot on that land and I roll my windows up and turn off the air when I drive by all the ag land around here. The corn is done the same way, sprayed with herbicides first to kill it:O In all fairness to Waxahachie TX, it is a darling town in the old historic district, full of victorian homes and a very famous old courthouse and THE only or one of only two, Chatauqua's left in the whole US of A. I go there alot, it is next to the most toxic town in the country(newspaper article a few years ago), Midlothian TX, where five!!!!!!!! concrete plants burn toxic waste in their stacks. I live upwind of them on some days, they like to burn on Sundays???? Citizens sued and sued. Brockovich even came here to help them. Now the plants have agreed to cut back. I do most of my wildflower journeying south of there:) --- CountryGirl <ruthful@...> wrote: > > 1820 Sheep die grazing GE cotton land (GE is > genetically engineered, not > > General Electric). > > http://www.scoop.co.nz/stories/SC0605/S00022.htm >
