Guest guest
Hi Tawny: Is your doctor suggesting Humira before trying Plaquenil or Methotrexate? My doctor ran me through just about everything including Enbrel before getting to Humira. I have found that it has helped me a lot. I'm also on Prednisone (2 mg), Methotrexate (15 mg) and Bextra (100 mg). Somewhere in that combination, I have had great improvement. Don't be afraid of self-injecting. It's kind of weird at first, but it's not too bad once you get used to it. The one thing about Humira is that I find you have to inject it very slowly, otherwise it really hurts. But the needles are extremely thin and easy to get in. Good luck to you! gloria
Guest guest
Hi Tawny. On another board I follow there is a guy who posts as iamshy who comes from Oklahoma. I don't remember where in Oklahoma but I think he has made contact on that board with another Sooner. Of course, you can get online support here. http://www.arthritisinsight.com/cgi-bin/wsmbb/wsmbb.cgi?SB+KYWRJLLXVS/AKFCLKZQUN+config Good luck and God bless. ----- Original Message ----- From: Tawny Rheumatoid Arthritis Sent: Thursday, November 27, 2003 8:54 PM Subject: Hi everyone,.... Guest guest
Tawny, I'm not sure being on Prednisone only is beneficial to your overall health. Prednisone is a powerful anti-inflammatory steroid, but it does nothing to stop the progression of the desease. You also need Desease Modifying Anti-Rheumatic Drugs (DMARDS). Please check into this ASAP with your Rheumatologist or Doctor. Jay --- In Rheumatoid Arthritis , " Tawny " <tawnyokc@s...> wrote: > Hi my name is Tawny, and I live in Oklahoma. Guest guest
Hello Tawney.. guess i'm your neighbor here in Texas.. i, too, am on prednisone, 5 mg daily. tryin to keep it as low as possible and hoping to get off of it. i also take an INSAID called naprosin (actually it is ibuprophen) and MSM and changed my eating habits quite a lot and use a few herbs that are helpful to me. i am not familiar with Humira. have been prescribed several other medications but i either had stomach problems even more so than before and one of them even gave me palsey like symptoms. So far this isn't too bad. how long have you known ? .. and how badly are you flaring? lee h ----- Original Message ----- From: Tawny Rheumatoid Arthritis Sent: Thursday, November 27, 2003 10:54 PM Subject: Hi everyone,....
