Guest guest
Hello - I'm fairly new to this list but I'm wondering if this is an autism group or a Christian group or a combination of both? I don't mind, if it isn't the right group for me I will gladly scoot and find another. I'm just a bit surprised. Not sure what Oprah has to do with anything. They both gave me the wiilys the few times I have watched them, so I watch something else or nothing at all. I heard about the new age course on the National evening news. There is a whole world out there going to Hell in a hand basket. I tell my SS Class that if Christians ever get the real picture of that we will be out knocking on doors and witnessing to all we encounter. We will ignore our need for our comfort zone; we will be obedient to Jesus! PERHAPS HER 'FAME' HAS GONE TO HER HEAD & EVERYONE SHOULD JUST STOP WATCHING HER...... I LEFT THE MESSAGES WHICH CAME W/ THE ORIGINAL I RECEIVED... -j- This is really scary stuff. Friends, click on the crossroad site. Alarming that people will follow its teachings and ignore the Bible. New Age. New world order. scroll down the page and you will see what there is to worry about. I left some of the comments that this long forward upon forward email contained and deleted everything else. This is scary stuff here. If We need to all pray that Oprah's eyes will be opened to the true Christ. What an ambassador she could be to the world with the right message, the true message. I almost never see Oprah. I watched her the day she had the guy on that wrote the book they will be teaching online. I was horrified. She has so much money and influence and this will be free. I almost wondered if this guy could be the anti-Christ. It is very scary. This is one of the most dangerous things for our country and even the world because of her vast following and influence. If you are a believer of the God of the Bible, you really need to read the following.- D. You really need to read this " Oprah and Friends " to teach course on New Age ChristMany of you, like me, have probably been Oprah fans for a long time. This is very discouraging news to hear about one who has such tremendous influence on the general public. Please ask God to show Oprah the real Jesus Christ.Just to make sure this was true, I went on Oprah's website and there it is. The below article is very interesting, so I thought I would share.Sent: Thursday, January 03, 2008 4:50 PMSubject: Oprah joins false prophets Bible warned abouthttp://www.crossroad.to/articles2/007/smith-oprah.htm or " Oprah and Friends " to teach course on New Age ChristJesus Christ being reinvented, redefined, and blasphemed and, this false New- Age Christ teaching is about to make huge inroads into t he world, with the help of the queen of television talk shows, Oprah Winfrey. Oprah Winfrey, beginning January 1, 2008, on her daily radio program will offer a year-long course on the New Age Christ , in a lesson a day and completely cover the 365 lessons from the Course in Miracles " Workbook. " Listeners will be encouraged to buy A Course in Miracles for the year-long course, and an audio version, recited by ( BoyWalton) will be available on compact disc. Those who finish the Course will have a wholly redefined spiritual mindset-a New Age worldview that include the beliefs that there is no sin, no evil, no devil. A Course in Miracles teaches its students to rethink everything they believe about God and life, and, bluntlystates: " This is a course in mind training " and is dedicated to " thought reversal. " The Course in Miracles -in reality-is the truth of the Bible turned upside down.Oprah told her television audience that on's book, A Course in Miracles was one of her favorite books, and that she had already bought a thousand copies and would be handing them out to everyone in her studio audience. Oprah's endorsement skyrocketed on's book to the top of the New York Times bestseller list .A Course in Miracles is allegedly a " new revelation " from " Jesus " to help humanity work through these troubled times. This " Jesus " -who bears no doctrinal resemblance to the Bible's Jesus Christ-began delivering channeled teachings in 1965 to a Columbia University Professor of Medical Psychology, Helen Schucman. One day Schucman heard an " inner voice " stating, " This is a course in miracles. Please take notes. " For seven years she diligently took spiritual dictation from this voice that described himself as " Jesus. " Here are some quotes from the " Jesus " voice of A Course in Miracles :· " There is no sin . . . " · A " slain Christ has no meaning. " · " The journey to the cross should be the last ' useless journey. " · " Do not make the pathetic error of 'clinging to the old rugged cross.' " · " The Name of Jesus Christ as such is but a symbol... It is a symbol that is safely used as a replacement for the many names of all the gods to which you pray. " · " The recognition of God is the recognition of yourself. " · " The Atonement is the fin al lesson he [man] need learn, for it teaches him that, never having sinned, he has no need of salvation. " Popular author Wayne Dyer told his PBS television audience that the " brilliant writing " of A Course in Miracles would produce more peace in the world. The Course in Miracles-based book, Forgiveness, continues to be sold in Schuller's Crystal Cathedral bookstore as Schuller prepares to host a January 17-19, 2008, " Rethink Conference " at his Crystal Cathedral.2 3 (King Version)King Version (KJV)2 31This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.2For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,3Without natural affecti on, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,4Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;5Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. Guest guest
First I " ll say that I'll not be passing this one to anyone. I read several of the lessons at random and did not find what the " warning " claimed to be valid. It's merely a course in cognitive restructuring from a spiritual perspective, thus the continual mention of " God's grace " throughout. It is possible to " cherry pick " any piece of writing to make it seem to say what it doesn't say; like saying that Jesus wants us to hate our parents...which He did say (in Luke) but did not mean in that literal a way. A person can make anything sound like what it isn't, just by the passages they choose to pluck out of their context. Secondly, what's with the dig on Obama in this context? If it has to do with the myth that he's Muslim, well, he isn't. He is in fact a member of the United Church of Christ and has been since the mid-80's (http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/muslim.asp) and was educated in a Catholic school. For that matter, *I* support Barack Obama and I'm an ordained Presbyterian Elder and very active in my church. Things like this make me crazy. They're so easy to disprove. Guest guest
I don't seem to have the original post to which Annie's responding. It does sound like it's about A Course In Miracles, which is an incredible 3 books. I'd guess Annie's talking about the lessons. Imagine Jesus teaching about God in blank verse and iambic pentameter. Much more beautiful than Shakespeare. It's a whole other view of Life. Francine In a message dated 2/23/2008 12:13:44 P.M. Guest guest
I would think your god would actually prefer non-believers who follow moral law for the sake of following moral law without the fear of the lake of fire. It doesnt take a threat of hell to make me behave in a moral way. Looking for last minute shopping deals? Find them fast with Search. Guest guest
In my opinion a loving God would not allow us to go to Hell for our non-beliefs. If someone "believes" just because they are scared of not going to Heaven this is dreadful and not true belief, just fear!!
