Guest guest
Greetings all, Thought I would check in, see how you all are doing. Our last week here was a doozy. It all began on Fri. evening at about 9:30 p.m. and we were going through our usual routine of putting my disabled son to bed. When I touched him I noticed he was very hot, and was coughing a lot. He had started coughing about an hour earlier and we gave him an Albuterol treatment with the nebulizer. Well I knew we must rush him off to ER on account of the fever, since he has been on the food tube the last seven years he tends to aspirate, he gets bacteria into his lungs from his mouth, and then gets pneumonia. I have never seen him get quite this sick quite this fast, he has had pneumonia now at least eight times and has been hospitalized, and I have had him down there for x-rays just to make sure many more times than that, ever since he had it really bad in '04 and his lung collapsed and he had to have surgery, didn't even have a fever that time. He was critically ill and in ICU for at least a week that time, and recovering two more weeks. So anyway on Fri. the doctor on call had them put and IV in and started him immediately on Rosefin a strong antibiotic, and admitted him. The x-rays did not show pneumonia yet but the symptoms did. Next day another x-ray showed a very small spot on each lung! So the started him on two other antibiotics and the fever went down and in three days they sent him home, and here at home he is on two antibiotics for about a week. He seems o.k. but I never know since he cannot speak to tell me anything. Will write another letter to explain what happened the evening after he came home......stay tuned. Guest guest
Hi , yes my son was in the hospital for four days getting IV antibiotics for his pneumonia. Then he took them at home for about a week. He has had two chest x-rays since, one was for his re-check and last Sun. night I just panicked, he wasn't breathing right I didn't think and so we rushed him over and after the x-ray they said his lungs looked better than when he was released on Aug. 4th, so that was good. The hard part is the panic, pneumonia is so spooky and could be working away when you don't know it building up and then wham there it is. Sigh. Also I had the doctor at ER look at a spider bite I got on my inner upper arm, it was really red and burned terribly on Sun. morning, and here it is today, Thur. and it is still pretty itchy, but is getting better, I don't think I'll need an antibiotic for it. And we met my daughter's stepson at the hospital too, he was there for a reaction to a bee sting, had gotten it earlier in the day and was getting hives so they gave him epinephrine and steroids, etc. Poor guy, his dad is allergic to bees also. Oh yes, and his dad, my son in law, my little grandson Lucas poked him in the eye and injured his cornea! He hit me like that the other day too and it hurt for awhile but it didn't hurt my eye. I don't know why he gets mean like that, hits and pokes sometimes. He is four. Oh yes and his brother, he is doing pretty well after falling out of the tree and his spleen fracture, but he still has to be very careful for at least another month. It is scary watching him all the time not letting him run or jump or anything, he is eight and doesn't like to hold still much. Well that is the health report from here, I don't feel good from the anxiety level, story of my life though and we always survive somehow, by the grace of God.
