A writer, activist, and the mother of three boys, has an eldest son Nat, who was diagnosed with autism at the age of three in January 1993. 's first hand insight, appeals to immediate families affected by autism, as well as extended families, friends, and the larger community who seek to help and support loved ones faced with great challenges. She provides useful strategies and resources that will help families, educators, therapists, and caregivers understand how to get through the daily living issues that autism brings. Her bestselling book, Making Peace with Autism, is a family story with universal truths about struggle, coping, discovery, and acceptance. Regularly interviewed on national television shows such as MSNBC, and FOX, is a prolific national speaker on autism, captivating and inspiring audiences by her diverse presentation that includes such areas as getting through the early days, developing coping key strategies, helping to keep a marriage strong, what to do for siblings, how to deal with the school system, and how to have fun as a family with autism. The seminar which is FREE and open to the general public, has been made possible through a generous grant through the efforts of Councilman Weprin.
