Guest guest
Ditto about all this stuff, is it snake oil? I've been using a metal free spray now for 4 months on my son, I don't know if its helped or not. I was talking to a Dr. a few months ago, and she just came back from a conference about out toxic our world is now. And how we all need to be talking steps to keep our health in check, as many will end up with cancers, other autoimmune disorders as we age. One thing I do know, is with the toxin's in our environment, food, water, car exhaust etc.. We " ALL " should be trying to chelate everyday of our lives. You can do some of that naturally with vit-C, cilantro, garlic, fish oils, just to name a few. > i´ve seen from others responding as well. > are we buying into snake oil? i dont know, because i > cant say that it´s working either, but if you believe > there may be a connection between metals in the body & > chelation being able to rid them of them, then it may > be worth a try. Guest guest
- Wow...this is good to hear. My son is a patient of Dr. Rao and we have been excited with the initial progress he's making with use of DMG, B6 & Mag, B-12 shots and a few other things. Dr. Rao plans for us to start chelation soon...but.... We just started treating a yeast overgrowth...and had to put it on hold because was getting sick. We don't know if it was from the Nystatin (sp?) or if he happended to get a stomach bug or if it was his reflux (which he's had since birth) acting up?? We pulled him off it for 5 days and just started again tonight with one dose. He had an usually " good " week this week so I have to wonder if just 4 days of yeast killing would be enough to show some improvement or not? His blood, stool and urine cultures all came back positive for yeast so we're really keeping our fingers crossed for help for his gut at the least by killing off all the yeast. Beth > This message is for those who chelate transdermally (using skin creams): > > There is good news! We use Abrams Royal Pharmacy in Dallas. Lark, at Abrams has formulated a NON-STINKY cream to replace the mind- numbingly odorous glutathione and allithiamine! The methylcobal remains the same. I asked her if I could let you all know, and she told me to go ahead. Most of you who chelate transdermally are, like us, probably patients of Dr. Rao in Plano/Carrollton, so you will find this out pretty soon, anyway, but she just completed the formula and tested it (for odor) in the last few days. She has been working on this for months! I found out because I called up crying because my daughter (and family, too) was suffering with the odor -- and she told me the good news! The new formula still has a mild odor, but she says you have to get your nose right down to the skin to smell it. > > For more information, call Lark at 214/349-8000. Remember, she is a pharmacist, not a treating physician! If you are reading this message and just want more info. on transdermal chelation, you can ask your doctor, or do an internet search. > > Blessings! > K > >
Guest guest
Beth, You mentioned several tests showed signs of Yeast and that a few days after going on Nystatin, your son got sick and you weren't sure what it was. You might call Dr. Rao's office and talk to them; sometimes when the yeast starts dying off, it can release toxin that can make you feel sick. So it could actually be a good sign that the Nystatin is working. Now, I am NOT saying that is what is happening with your son; I am just saying that this sort of thing is possible. So as I mentioned, consult with Dr. Rao, but you might ask him if he thinks this is what is happening. (And I am not a Doctor nor do I have any medical training of any kind, I only offer this suggestion as something you should ask your Doctor about.) J. P. Guest guest
I did call Dr. Rao's office. My family thought exactly the same thing...that maybe the die off was causing him to get sick. My son has had reflux since birth and takes Prilosec (since 18 mo) and it has been a wonder drug. So for us...if my son gets sick very often, it is even harder for him to quit because of the reflux problem. We have given him the Nystatin the past two nights (thinking maybe less nausea if given at night?) and so far so good. We will increase to twice a day after two more nights...then to three times a day later if he continues to handle things. We will then add in the Probiodics and Enzymes that Dr. Rao wants him to get also. Dr. Rao told us to stop everything new and start it back slowly after 3-4 days of not getting sick...which is exactly what we are doing. We're keeping our fingers crossed! The school nurse just called me to double check the candida controlled diet. Guest guest
Hi Beth! Sorry I didn't get back to you in a more timely manner, but I am glad someone else stepped up to the plate! Yeast die-off can be a problem. When Maggie goes through it, she does not appear to have stomach problems (no loss of appetite), but she has huge behavior issues -- scratching, biting, hitting. melt-downs. moodiness -- all a lot more than usual, and it lasts for a couple or so weeks. She went through it the first time when we started probiotics and went low-yeast, and then again when we started Nystatin and knocked out the rest of the yeast. Blessings! Guest guest
Thanks for the information. We're on night three of the Nystatin and so far so good. It might have been the probiotics making him sick? I'm not sure...but he needs one more " no sick " day and I'll up the dosage to two times a day. I want to take it slowly...I don't want him to get so sick again. --Did behaviors improve or just normalize after yeast treatment? Guest guest
Beth, In our case, the behaviors improved after yeast die-off. When we first went low-yeast (without Nystatin) in 2001, the improvements actually started during the die-off period. In other words, while Maggie was going nuts and acting out, she was also, quite suddenly, sleeping better (esp. with no hysterical laughter during the night!), and speaking a bit better. We have been on Nystatin about 2 months, and everyone has noticed a gradual improvement in social behavior and language. With the Nystatin, the improved behaviors did not show up until after 2-3 weeks of behavior problems that were due to the die-off. Blessings! Guest guest
We would like to remove heavy metals from our ASD 9yo son and have tried oral DMSA with bad behavior side effects. I thought I recalled a Post or two where chelation transdermally was less evasive and did not have as many behavior side effects. we would plan to go very, very slow. Any success stories or suggested products to use? Many Thanks & Vicki
Guest guest
& Vicki,A lot of chelation side effects come from irregular levels of the chelator in the blood. Transdermal chelation can indeed help with this but it can have issues (such as where it is washed off prematurely). I have also heard a lot of kids have issues with the transdermal creams that include glutathione, so I would suggest you avoid the glutathione at first so you can tell if transdermal may work for your son. -LanaOn 2/26/08, kvbilliet <kvbilliet@...> wrote: We would like to remove heavy metals from our ASD 9yo son and have tried oral DMSA with bad behavior side effects.
