Guest guest
Some people have to reduce or drop SNT once on enzymes. If your child starts absorbing the vit B nutrient from foods and is also on SNT, that can be too much B6. If the problems did not start until you added zinc and calcium, I would consider dropping them for awhile to see if that helps. When you do add supplements, add only one at a time so you can tell which is helping or hurting. And, yes, it's always possible he is just being two! Once my son was on enzymes, he had tremendous gains - but he and his brother also started acting like brothers. It was a big adjustment for me to deal with that typical competitive brother stuff. > Ok, my son is 2 years and 10 months and has been on Supra Nu (1 tsp > a day, divided into two doses) for two months, AFP (one per meal=3 > per day) for one month, and HZ (bumped him up to 1/2 cap last week > from 1/3 per meal) for two weeks. Some kids don't do well with high zinc, because it dumps copper too fast, and 20mg for a 2-3 yo child might be high, especially if there is more zinc in the SNT. You might consider removing that one, or at least reducing it, and see if that helps. I had to experiment to find a calcium supplement my son tolerated. Guest guest
I hate almost all calcium supps except the wateroz ones (or similar) (www.wateroz.com/ www.realityheathresearch.com) but that probably isn't your problem. 20 mg might be a little high on zinc unless you are also supplementing some of the other minerals, like magnesium, chromium, manganese, selenium, potassium, etc). It depends on what kind of zinc you are using, however. 20 mg of zinc sulphate is less absorbable than zinc citrate, which would be a LOT more asorbably but probably too much at 20 mg, if you see my point. You might need some magnesium (again use the angstrom sized minerals if you think they'd suit, I love them) at least. It might make him more calm. 2 y.o. are always busy and usually defiant, or so they say. My kids are not very defiant in any case and never were at 2. My daughter was more difficult toward 3/4, if I remember right. My son was always east and too passive, although things are changing all the time..... ...... I have no idea how these therapists do anything with a 2 y.o.!!!! I'd have thought it was up to them to make themselves appealing enough to warrant attention! Guest guest
I'm posting on behalf of a friend - her 70 yr old father has suffered w/RA for close to 30 yrs now. Last spring he developed vasculitis (I believe this has something to do w/his RA but I could be mistaken). In September he began to get sick - he'd spike very high fevers, but the drs couldn't find anything wrong. He was in and out of the hospital from Sept-Dec. In early December, he went into the hospital and has not left once - as of today, he's been in bed for a week. He keeps spiking fevers with no sign of infection anywhere in his body. Just this week they have started him on Humira. Does this sound familiar to anyone? Has anyone been through this? She is at her wits end. He's at a very highly regarded hospital and they're getting nowhere. Thanks in advance for any help you could offer. Jane
Guest guest
I don't really know anything about it but the high fevers sound a lot like Adult Onset Still's Disease. Janis who posts under the name Island Woman on Arthritis Insight http://www.arthritisinsight.com/cgi-bin/wsmbb/wsmbb.cgi?SB+KYWRJLLXVS/AKFCLKZQUN+config has it and may be able to answer questions. I have no idea how the vasculitis fits in. Thanks for trying to help your friend and her father. God bless. ----- Original Message ----- From: j_x_healey Rheumatoid Arthritis Sent: Friday, January 09, 2004 1:14 PM Subject: Can someone help? Guest guest
Jane, I have no idea what it may be that your describing. In my short limited experience with RA, I don't recall ever hearing anyone in this group post anything resembling what you described in the past 9 months I've been here. I know we can develop fevers with RA but mine were always a low grade fever and never spiked. I'm sorry I'm of no help. I think you may have most of us stumped and that is why your not getting any responses to your post. It is not that we are ignoring you. This has been the nost helpful group of people I have ever had the privilege of being associated with, other than the EMT's with my volunteer ambulance corp of course! Best of luck with your friend's father. Our prayers are with him. Jay > I'm posting on behalf of a friend - her 70 yr old father has suffered > w/RA for close to 30 yrs now. Guest guest
Jay, Thanks for that - I figured exactly that (not ignoring but no suggestions) but it was nice of you to make sure I understood that. I belong to a group for another health issue and same there .... great, helpful people but sometimes a msg just " dies " because no one has an answer. Thanks!
