Guest guest
Hi Christy, I got the following link from ASPEN (www.aspennj.org) . Aspergers & autism in children is "coded" by SSI as 112.09 link to children's section 112 is here: http://www.ssa.gov/disability/professionals/bluebook/112.00-MentalDisorders-Childhood.htm#112.02%20Organic%20Mental%20Disorders I was miffed to see it titled "mental disorders" Information on evidence requirements SSI has is at this link: http://www.ssa.gov/disability/professionals/bluebook/evidentiary.htm Hope that helps some. I'm no expert at all, and have not yet applied for SSI. I've been told to apply for it immediately after his dx because we can get some funding for typically out-of-pocket expenses like camp. My name's & I'm new to the group. My 4 1/2 yr old son is awaiting another neurological appointment to determine if he is PDD/NOS or Aspergers. (Everyone on the child study team and myself suspect he has Aspergers'.) We're struggling with finding a preschool placement for him in Ocean County NJ. Right now, only one public school had an opening for him, and the students in that class are not on par with him verbally or physically and there are no Neurotypicals for him to socialize with or model. There's nothing in our district for preschool, so they're sending us out of district. I just sent a huge letter regarding his IEP, which is in the process of being written. Anyone in the group from NJ? How about in NJ and have a preschooler whose been diagnosed with Aspergers? bloom where you are planted __________________________________________________
