Guest guest
Hi! Abby does have bossing. For Abby is doesn't look " higher " on one side, but it still bugs me big time...especially since she is almost done with her band, and her roundness is absolutely beautiful. When we had out first visit, our center told us up front that the band would not correct the bossing. However with her 2nd band, has been working on that area behind the bossing to get it to also " fill in. " It is the area at the very tippy top of the back of the band. Her head is not big circumference wise, but long top to bottom. I hope that made sense. To boot, she has hardly any hair so it is really noticeable. For a while her eye also had that large/sleepy eye thing going on, but that has all but disappeared (yay!). She has such a pretty little head now, the doc band has been such a blessing for our entire family! Best wishes to all...Kimry
Guest guest
<< For a while her eye also had that large/sleepy eye thing going on >> What exactly is this. See, Jenna has what I think is a very mild case, but she is only 12 weeks. The right side of her head sticks up slightly higher when looking at her from the front, and I think it is very slightly bossed. Actually, that is what I first noticed. She doesn't have any hair, so the right side being a little higher on top was what stood out to me the most. No one else can see this unless I point it out to them and her head is angled just right. After that I realized that she also had a flat spot on that side in the back. As far as her eyes, I haven't noticed anything. She has a blocked tear duct on that side, does that have anything to do with this? How do I know if it is larger and what is the sleepy part? Gosh, I hope these aren't dumb questions! Guest guest
Karla, Yup, it not only looks higher, but that eye is also larger. More noticeable when she's sleepy, but still larger. Guest guest
Grace doesn't seem to have a higher forehead on her prominent side. She does have a "taller" head all around, like Kimry mentioned Abby having. The big eye/small eye is also present. You can kind of see it in the picture of her in her stroller in the File's section. It's puzzling that the eye on the more projecting side of her face is the smaller. Reason tells me the big eye/small eye phenom would be due to the optical illusion of having one eye closer, therefore looking larger. So, I really don't understand what would make it more squinty. I'll have to get out my micrometer tomorrow and take some measurements Thanks for giving us something else to obsess over, Karla! Almost like the pressure she puts on the flat part in the back is moving everthing up on that side instead of as much out on that side. Does that make sense? Guest guest
For Abby, the " sleepy " part was the eyelid, it seemed bigger and the more tired, the more noticeable. It was on on her " good side " if you will. Her flat spot was on her right, and the affected eye is her left. Kimry
Guest guest
It does make sense, you are right...that flatness does cause everything to push forward. With band applying pressure on their foreheads, it is restricting that continued prominence in the front, but it does not correct the bossing on the top of the head since that area is not covered by the band. Now do I make sense? Kimry
Guest guest
Yes!!! I understand what you mean about the top of head being higher. Now that everyone is mentioning these things I am being more observant. I noticed this today at bathtime. I am just wondering if pressure on all sides would be causing this. Then how does it get moved down?? I will ask PT for input. We have appt tomorrow. Belinda
