Hi!

My son was just changed to Lamisol from Diflucan in December. He had been on

Diflucan for a year and a half which is maybe part of our problem. Since

being on the Lamisol, he seems more distracted, has increased sensory needs,

(crashes into our chairs all the time) and is covering his eyes a lot like he

has blurred vision. He is pretty much non-verbal so he can't tell me how he

feels. Has anyone else had these problems? I am talking with Dr. G on

Monday and would really like to know whether maybe it is common for some of

these symptoms, or maybe this medication is not chemically right for my

child!! It has been over 2 months now, so I know it is not dye off. The

school also says he is not doing as well and is not as focused! Help!

Thanks in advance! Kathy

Kathy,

My son did not do well on either Lamisil or Diflucan (my daughter is fine on

the diflucan though). It may just not agree with his particular system.

Connor became distractable also and couldn't get any work done at school. He

also started aggressive behaviors (hitting and kicking) which he had not had

previously. It definitely was not for us.

He is on Amphotericin B now and doing much better.

Hope this helps,

Sharon

Hi Kathy,

We are not on Lamisol but currently my son is taking Diflucan. I was curious

as to why you switched to lamisol??? Did the diflucan stop working? Did he

have those behaviors you described on the diflucan?? I hope you can switch

to a different med to work with his system better!! Good luck!

Hi a,

First of all thanks to everyone who responded. In answer to your question,

It is important to alternate antifungal medication at least every 6 months.

Colin was doing ok on the Diflucan, but it is not a good idea to stay on the

same medication as because I think each antifungal is different chemically

and also each can fight a different strand of yeast. If you fight one for

too long then a new strand may get stronger. It is kind of hard to explain.

Hope this helps!! Kathy
