Guest guest
Hey everyone,....I went to the rheumy today, and will be starting the humira weekly. I was wondering if anyone is taking it weekly, and has it helped. I would love to hear from the group. Also I am still on the low dose of Prednisone(5mg), and he has put me on MTX. He put me on Ultracet, instead of the darvocet. Also I am starting Wellbutrin, and off the Prozac. So, I hope the meds start working for me, just looking for a little relief,.... I wish everyone pain free days ahead, take care Tawny
Guest guest
Tawny, Glad to hear he is making a plan to help you feel better. I hope the humira will help you. I hope he prescribed calcium/vit D for you. My doc said you need at least 1500mg of calcium every day you are on prednisone! Make sure you divide the dosage up through out the day so you can get the maximum absorption. Next since you are starting MTX, did he also write for folic acid? You will really need the folic acid to ward off all the side effects. Now sure how much he started you on weekly. They usually start of low (2-3 pills a week) and work up to high dosages. Also if you are ok with the injections, the methotrexate injections have less GI side effects. The pills can have some pretty bad side effects. Also from a cost effective point of view..the injectable is far cheaper than the pills. I pay around $22 for 3-4 month supply of MTX solution and syringes. The pills were costing me $10 for 12 pills and that was only a month supply. I hope the combination works well for you and you can get off prednisone! I refuse to take the prednisone but the other meds are not doing anything for me. I have never taken welbutrin...but prozac works well for me! I did have to change the dosage around a few times before I got to a level that worked. I am suppose to be on 60mg a day. Its going to be interesting restarting the prozac! Since I am no longer working...I really feel I don't need it most of the time. Though I still have my PMDD which is not fun once a month and the prozac really helped out in that area. Guest guest
Toni,I do hope the weekly injections will start helping, I need something to work, getting depressed just thinking about it. I am on folic acid, and calcium, so I should be good. I am going to go on the Prednisone for a short time, maybe I can get this thing under control, someway. I seem to be in a flare all the time. I will talk to him about the MTX injections, not sure how long I will be on it. Everytime I go on MTX my enzymes rocket. The Humira just seems to work better, with the MTX. I tried the Ultracet, and it helped me quite a bit, I woke up with less pain, so keep your fingers crossed for me. I needed a change from the Prozac, I have been on it to long. I was ready for a change. I do need anti-depressants, not only my medical problems, but have other issues to deal with, so I need them. Well my friend, take care, and I hope your day goes well. > Tawny, > > Glad to hear he is making a plan to help you feel better. I hope the humira > will help you.
