Guest guest
Hi Jay. I've had that problem for some time and it extended at times to my right ankle. I wasn't able to get my PCP, rheumatologist, or cardioligist interested in it by just mentioning it, so I just ignore it. I almost got all feeling back, but now my right toes are becoming insensitive again. I just try to ignore it. I haven't tried the antibiotic therapy but there is a website http://www.roadback.org/index.shtml that gives a lot of information about it. I have heard both good and bad things about it. Whatever you decide, I hope you have good results. God bless. ----- Original Message ----- From: Jay Bishop Rheumatoid Arthritis Sent: Monday, February 16, 2004 11:53 PM Subject: Loss of Sensation I have been losing sensation in a couple of my toes for the past couple of months. Guest guest
Hi Jay, I was diagnosed with Reiter's Syndrome, which is triggered by an infection, so I was on doxycycline for about 8 months to get the infection out of my system. I'm not sure if it worked because by the time I stopped it I was on Remicade so I felt better. Take care, in Virginia ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~>I have been losing sensation in a couple of my toes for the past >couple of months. Guest guest
Jay, I did antibiotic therapy and took Minocin for 6 months on M-W-F. It was a rough 6 months but well worth it. I am now off drugs. Someone who has not had RA as long as me would probably respond even faster. The longer you have had it, the longer it takes the antibiotics to work. I found out about it last year. Right hand has deformity now after 7 years of RA and probably needs surgery along with crooked toe on left foot. But, I am functioning very well, working fulltime, keeping household going. I have no fatigue and take vit. C, fish oil, and chicken cartilage. Guest guest
Hi there Harold, It is such a weird feeling. Sometimes they feel numb, sometimes like they're asleep, and sometimes they hurt like the dickens. One of the VA docs made a request for me to see a podiatrist. He thinks some kind of inset for my shoes will help. Thanks for your input, valued as always my friend, Jay > Hi Jay. I've had that problem for some time and it extended at times to my right ankle. If there's anything I could get fanatical about, it's the benefit of shoe inserts (orthotics)!!! They're wonderful. Sierra
Guest guest
I have been reading the posts on numbness in the toes with interest. I've been experiencing this in my left hand, the fingers. Started last fall with a flare on trying to reduce prednisone. Feels like when circulation is cut off. All heart stuff checks out okay, though. Usually putting on a Bauer and Black arthritis glove relieves it. Mostly just a nuisance but sometimes very painful. Rheumy doesn't know the cause, so sending me to a neurologist finally (March). Symptoms have improved a lot from last fall though. Would be interested to know if anyone else has " finger " numbness. Oddly, I have more flexibility of these fingers than in my right hand.
