Guest guest
Hi, Sierra, I read an article in my alternative doc's office concerning wheat and how many problems it can cause. It is amazing how many things include wheat. I do cheat once in a while and have a cracker or two...Giving up bread was a tuff one, too. I also find it very hard to give up cheese. Hey, if you can handle dairy products, more power to you.. I have to use soy milk. Someone gave me the hint if a food gives you instant indigestion, stay away from it. That has been a good clue. I seem to hurt in my neck and shoulders more lately and read somewhere if you hurt between shoulder blades it can be from a certain food. I recently contacted a naturopath and she suggested 9 supplements. Well, (I keep trying different stuff) the joint pain came back very intense. I guess my body could not handle the detox. I am not a big eater and decided if I could just sit home and think about nothing but what I was gonna eat in the next couple of hours, I might could do it. That is not the case. I got back on my vitamin C, fish oil, and chicken cartilage. My bones creak and crack but I am still going. Good luck to you. Keep trying different stuff. Statistics show that those who keep trying different stuff are much more successful fighting this RA battle! Guest guest
Some time ago I saw something about a study of the effect of diets on RA where people with RA were divided into three groups and each group was given a particular diet to follow. Unfortunately I don't remember the three basic diets that were used but the conclusion was that some people in each group were benefited but others were not. They concluded that there is no one diet that is always better for RA but for some people a change of diet may be beneficial. In other words, it is trial and error (with usually an emphasis on error). I have heard of an " elimination diet " that starts out with only a few foods that are thought to never cause problems, and after a couple of weeks detoxification foods are added back into the diet one food at a time to see whether they are tolerated. I think it is described on http://arthritisinsight.com/living/diet/index.html either as " Leaky Gut Syndrome " or " Joe's Story " , both by Joe Hackett. If anyone is interested in more information after reading the articles (which I have not read) let me know and maybe I can contact Joe for more information. God bless. I can usually contact him through the Arthritis insight RA message board.
