Guest guest
my daughter used to do that some. As far as I know, it was a self stim behavior. She no longer does it. Body Stiffening My 3:10 year old autistic son does body stiffening (and teeth grinding), lasting for a few seconds many times a day and it seems on rise lately. It does not look like a seizure and comes most of the times randomly (no correlation to mood). I have been trying to seek an answer but nothing seems to help. Does anybody have a clue what can be causing it? He is on allergy free diet, Super Nu Thera (low doses), Nystatin, and Zn supplementation (under Pfeiffer's treatment). It will be a while before we will be able to see Dr. G. I will appreciate any help on this issue. Dinesh
Guest guest
Dinesh, Bruxism is a more technical term for teeth grinding, it may be a good term to use for searching for clues as to possible deficiencies, I recall seeing it associated with calcium and magnesium deficiencies, but I suggest you research this a bit for yourself. Maybe a search for bruxism and deficiency would be a good starting point. The " Herxheimer reaction " is another example of a more technical term that would help in searches for " yeast die-off " , I state this as an F.Y.I. but don't suggest it is related to bruxism. Jon. Guest guest
Thanks to , Jon, and Marcia who responded to my message for body stiffening. It seems that he is doing body stiffening mostly during the ABA hours (very rarely with us). I do not know if he is trying to show his displeasure this way. ABA therapists have counted it to be upto 15 times/hr. We will be doing an EEG again (first one was done about 10 months back) just to rule out seizures. We have stopped Nystatin and Super Nu Thera in the past 2 weeks but no improvement. We will be able to see Dr. G only in September. But, as Marcia suggested, we have requested to put his name against any cancellations. Thanks again to all of you who responded. Dinesh > Dinesh, > My son is thirteen and recovered as a result of Dr. Goldberg's treatment. My son also used to grind his teeth, exhibit almost drunk like behavior, bite, and squeeze people's arms. When you help his body and his language develops all that goes away very gradually. After his body becomes more normal, it is much easier to teach what is acceptable behavior and what is not. It was not possible to do this before Dr. G. > > Too much Super Nu Thera can also cause problems, although many years ago before Dr. G we took it also. More Super Nu Thera is not necessarily better. We also used to do Nystatin. But it is not as strong to fight yeast as the medications Dr. Goldberg uses. Our children have a severe medical condition and that requires strong interventions. > > If your appointment is a long time off, make sure you get all your paperwork in and ask Laurie in the office to put you on the waiting list. There is almost always a cancellation. My sister-in-law got in three months earlier with this method. Be sure to copy all of your paperwork before you send it in. Dr. G's office takes care of so many kids that sometimes paperwork needs to be sent again if it an especially busy time. Email me privately if you need more information. > Marcia Hinds > > >
Guest guest
Suzanne, We had done blood test for food allergies for my son. He was having antibodies for about 33 food items (including wheat, milk, rice, lentils, tomatoes, citrus group etc.). We saw some improvement when we removed wheat and milk. However, the improvement was amazing when we removed all the foods he was found allergic to. That is what I meant by " allergy free diet " . The Pfeiffer treatment center (www.hriptc.org) in Naperville, IL have found Zn deficiency and imbalaced Zn/Cu ratio in my son (which they have documented is found in about 97% autistic children). They have been trying to correct it by supplementing Zn and other minerals/vitamins. Zn supplementation has helped him initially but now he seems to be going downhill (as per ABA data) and that is what is worrying us. Body stiffening and teeth grinding also seems on rise (again based on ABA data). Pfeiffer first does vitamin/mineral supplementation and then give MT promoter (MTP) to detoxify heavy metals. We are just about to start the MTP for my son. Anyway, write me if you need any further info about Pfeiffer.
