Guest guest
My son's reaction to Nystatin was pretty immediate (within 24 hours). He had a fever and was lethargic. It waned after a few days.
Guest guest
hello, My son took antifungal twice, it helped him, but he has never had die off reaction. So, watch carefully Regina Anti-fungal meds Hello, My son is 4 years old and we started seeing Dr. G on Feb 14th of this year. has done very well under Dr. G's care. It is really amazing the progress that he has made. is taking Valtrex 3 times per day and his blood work is even looking better. My doctor said " this is not a virus it is autism " , I guess he this is all a fluke (hardley). Anyway, I just had my first phone consultation with Dr. G and he is changing my son from Nystatin to another anti-fungal medication which is called Ketocanazole (compounded). Dr. G did warn me that may be unhappy because of the die off effect. My question is how soon would I see this reaction. I just started him on it tonight and he seems to be doing fine. Guest guest
My son has started anti-fungal a week ago and we have not seen any die off. Can anyone give me any ideas, thoughts, does this mean it is not working? Guest guest
To follow what Regina said, We never saw " die off " but if we tried to remove the medication, we had regression, so we knew it was doing some good. You may not see die off, but if you see improvement in eye contact, language, or irritability (you will have to give the medicine some time to work), then things are going just fine. With each of the medicines we saw small baby steps towards improvement, but over time, the effect has been huge. Don't forget the goal at the beginning of treatment is to get the immune system " cooled " down. This is going to take some time. In one year our child went from chronic sinus and ear infections, to maybe one every 3 months. Being " well " , and consequently feeling well, has allowed my child to blossom. The Autistic symptoms are almost completely gone- I now have a little guy that can lie as well as his peers! Guest guest
, My son never had a die-off either and had definite improvement on Nizoral. It came very fast... by the 5th day we had gone from spending hours every night doing homework to finishing it in 15-20 minutes (if he even had any to bring home!). This improvement was, of course, not typical... I had expected to see a die off and then maybe improvement after a couple of weeks. I asked Dr. Goldberg what this all meant and he said that Nizoral has a slight effect on the " adrenal cortical axis " , which affects the immune system, if I remember correctly. He thought that might be why our son improved so quickly. Hang in there... Caroline >On 4/5/02 1:22 PM, " MedeirM1@...
