I'm on your side too Gretchen - you've done a great job putting this forum

together. I have learned more from everyone who has inputted into this than

all the doctors and other proffesionals combined that I have seen here in the

Chicagoland area. Thank You Very Much!!

(depression for example) by concentrating too much on the negatives.

I know what you mean, Harold. I worked in a nursing home once, and

saw many people stuck in negative thinking/complaining, while others,

some in worse physical condition, were still able to enjoy life

(seemingly) because of their attitudes. However, perhaps they were

able to be more resilient because of brain chemistry, whereas

the " negative thinkers " simply could not change their way of

functioning for the same reason. Mental health is very complex.

One thing to watch out for in the handling of our " negative "

emotions, is suppression and denial. If a strong emotion is present,

it's important to recognize it, and perhaps express it in some way.
