Guest guest
Hi everyone, I'd like to hear some opinions about Valtrex. We started it two weeks ago, I would say, we have some positive changes (verbalization), but some negative too. He does not sleep well, not that bad still, and became more cranky. Usually we do not have problem to control him and it is not that bad now, but all small changes make the picture somehow different. Mood changes, aggressive (a little bit) to his sister, etc. His ABA therapists does not have any problems and he is doing well (according to them). Recently he developed flu symptoms (it is o'key according to D.) I an just curios, what we can expect after it is done (I mean Valtrex). I will appreciate any experience and opinions. Guest guest
Regina- We just got back from our first visit with Dr. Goldberg. We haven't started the Valtrex yet (waiting on the pharmacy to put it in suspension form). But Dr. Goldberg told us that he may be cranky for the 2-3 weeks, he said a lot of times it causes headaches in adults. He said if our son was cranky for the 2-3 weeks it was a good sign and that we should give him Motrin or Tylenol to relieve him during that time. So maybe you only have another week of it then you will only see good results. If you think of it, let me know how it goes. We will be starting, hopefully next week. Guest guest
Hi Staci, Not much fun, but I know it is kind of " good " reaction, just I expected it sooner. We were on Valtrex for two week before it happened. As I told it is not that bad, but not big please either. Let's keep inform each other about results, it might be interesting. You can e-mail me privately. How old is you child? Mine is three. Regina valtrex Hi everyone, I'd like to hear some opinions about Valtrex. Guest guest
Did the Dr. test him for virus by antibodies? How did he decide he needed Valtrex? Guest guest
I wasn't sure if your question was for me or Regina... but in our case we did not have the test done yet (we had all of the blood work-up when we were there), but during the examine he felt some swollen nodes on the back of my son's ear. Dr. G. said that normally mean virus. Staci valtrex > > > Hi everyone, > I'd like to hear some opinions about Valtrex. Guest guest
I was not sure as well if you question is for me or for Staci. We did not have blood work at the visit time. Dr.G. decided to do this because of some general thought, I mentioned that my son has problem with small motor movements (I do not think he has it now), but according to Dr. it means virus present. We've got results for blood work and there are antibodies for HHV 6. They mentioned in report that big population has Ab to HHV 6, but it does not mean anything for some of them and means everything for another. There are more and more papers about HHV 6 recently, it is not that harmless , it is not just roseola. There is connection between HHV6 and multiple sclerosis and more unpleasant stuff. Guest guest
Hi Rifat, The only one thing that can frighten me enough - thinking of living with autistic child for the rest of my live and thinking about who will take care of him when I am gone. It is of,course, you personal decision and it is a long way to success, but I think that now it is the best way. We did not do neurospect now, Dr. thinks that it is not necessary for him at this time. Good luck Regina valtrex

Hi everyone,
I'd like to hear some opinions & nbsp; about Valtrex. Guest guest
Hi, There are many on this list who have kids doing great. We simply are quiet because things are going great! My son has been with Dr. G for a little over a year. I trust Dr. G unlike any doctor I have ever encountered. That is not to say that all kids will do well on this protocol, but mine is doing awesome. Anti-virals " prop " up the immune system. They can't solve every problem. And not all anti-virals are the same. The SSRIs that are being discussed are problematic for everyone- " Autistic " or not. This type of drug has to be carefully selected to the patient and unfortunately the only way to do this is with trial and error. Dosage in such small patients is also a problem. Feel free to email me privately if you wish. Sincerely, Falls Plano, TX p.s. The scan you refer to is a SPECT scan. Not all of the kids have this done. It is based on symptoms and the severity of those symptoms. We were able to get by with a standard MRI and we had an EEG just to rule out seizures. > > > > Hi Regina > > My child is 3 and i have made an appointment with Dr G > to take my child to see him but hearing all these > negative things occuring to so many people has > frightened me and am thinking is it worth it? > > also please tell me if you had the brain scan ,cannot > remember what it is called something spec and what it > is for? to find what? > > > I am really puzzled whether to take my child as i live > in the UK. there seems to be too many negative things > happening to people. someone must be out there who it > has worked for???? > > > --- & quot;Feferman, Regina & quot; & lt;regina.feferman@... & gt; > wrote: > & lt;HR & gt; > & lt;html & gt; & lt;body & gt; > > > & lt;tt & gt; > Hi Staci, & lt;BR & gt; > Not much fun, but I know it is kind of > & amp;quot;good & amp;quot; reaction, just I expected it & lt;BR & gt; > sooner. Guest guest
Rifat, In the course of treatment, there can be some setbacks. It is not a straight linear path of all " ups " . However, if you look at the general progression over time, the vast majority show reasonable to exceptional progress. Don't let your fears trick you into misinterpreting these periodic issues. This is a serious disease which takes time, patience, and a willingness to understand and tolerate periodic " one step forward, two steps back " kind of progress. Don't lose sight that such times are signs that the body is trying to heal and, in most cases, if given the time and proper interventions, will make good progress. Don't lose heart! We've seen TRANSFORMATIONAL change in our child. He's simply not the same person we first brought to Dr. Goldberg 5+ years ago. But there have been some ups and downs, especially in the early stages. It has been worth all of it to see the magnitude of change he's accomplished. My only regret is not knowing of Dr. Goldberg and the protocol sooner! Guest guest
Pat hit it right on the nose. When you think of think of lupus, rheumatoid arthritis and CFIDS. How many of these have " cures " ? We did not get to Dr. G until my son was eight and was concurrently hit with PANDA(strep/OCD). I think of this as trying to " manage " his illness as best we can and improving the quality of life as most we can. valtrex
> >
> >
> > Hi everyone,
> > I'd like to hear some opinions & nbsp; about Valtrex. Guest guest
Hello Rifat; I am one of those families that Dr. G's protocol has worked for. (Our son is 5yo and has been with Dr G for 13 months.) We too had to go through a period of " difficult " behavior. Believe me it was worth it to have the child I have today. I dread to think where he would be at if we had not sought the advice/treatment of Dr. Goldberg. Please email me if you would like further detail.
