Guest guest
> 1 - My 6 yr old son started taking Kutapressin about 3 mths ago. And believe me, it wasn't our first choice. We started out on a shot a night for a month; then a shot every other day for 2 months. We just started a shot every 3rd day. He is also currently taking celexa, diflucan and valtrex. We're seen no quick or sudden changes but we have seen some slow gradual changes. The only one that we can really put our finger on is the recent upgrade of celexa. Dr G has been trying for months to raise the dose from alternating 1/4 and 1/2 1x a day to 1/2 tablet a day. When we've tried increasing the dose, we've had to peel from the ceiling. Very hyperactive & stimmy. At Dr G " s request, we started the 1/2 tablet a day dose about 2 wks ago. No noted increase in hyperactivity. The hardest thing about Kutapressin was learning to stick our child with a needle. A nurse-friend from church showed us how. At first, didnt seem to mind. But now - he minds. We can't use the EMLA cream because a) you have to wait 45+ min once it's applied; you have to cover it with a bandaid. will tolerate a bandaid for about 15 min. So we're using the old " positive reinforcement " method ... 2 - From our trip out to see Dr G in August, I've developed a 'working aid - in progress'. I have a map of the UCLA complex where the neurospect is located (Thanks Sharrill!) I have locations of some hotels/motels including the one where we stayed at which we would highly recommend. I have a brief description of Trader Joe and Whole Food markets. I unfortunately didn't write down their locations. My high recommendation for Hertz rental cars and their GPS service. I have a growing list of " things to do while visiting " . As I said, it's a 'work in progress' - you can make it better by adding to it. If you need a copy, either email me at sjsmith@... or send me your address. I can do softcopy or hardcopy. * Dr G has a 'vampire' on staff who takes blood very quickly and effectively. I was quite impressed with his technique. 3 - A brief word on ABA: we've been doing ABA thru NJIEI for almost 3 yrs. ABA and are a nice combination when properly done by trained people in a kind/considerate format. I don't think ABA can be learned and executed correctly from a book or tape. While you're carrying out the drills, you have behavior issues that crop up. You really need someone trained in behavior to help mold and modify these problems. You can't get that from a book. Just be very very careful if you do decide to do ABA thru a book or tape. Thanks! doris - sville MD
