Guest guest
Have been following the remarks about ABA and now TEACCH. I am doing TEACCH at home. We have had extremely good luck with it. One thing I have noticed in following ABA conversations is that you never hear from parents of older children. Most people haven't been doing it that long, have never seen an adult who was taught that way (I have, and don't like what I see.), but are still very gung ho. The other interesting thing is is that every year the ABA people incorporate more and more TEACCH methods into their programs. TEACCH has been around as long as ABA and has birth to death statistics on their program. Never seen that with ABA. 92% of TEACCH taught adults live independently, even the severely autistic ones. It seems like the ABA people just toss out the kids who aren't " cured " . Anyway, just another perspective. Theresa
Guest guest
Hi Thanks for the advice about the bread but do you think they would ship to Australia?? I don't think it would be viable, however do you know their web address and maybe they do supply some to the Eastern States of Australia and I may be able to track some down there. I've tried making my own in the breadmaker and tried every single gluten free bread on the market in Western Australia and he won't have a bar of any of them! School started back today after a 7 week summer break so I will be back on the treadmill of what to put in his lunches again. I feel you are very wise with what you did with vaccinating your youngest. I would love to have the guts to do what you have done but I just can't do it. I keep myself well informed on the AVN list (Australian Vaccination Network) it is wonderful (lot of US participants on it too) and they have given my the confidence to use homeopathy and it has worked really well for us. Our son has only had one mild ear infection in his whole life so far, where as the other boys were always sick and had ear infections all the time. They both had chicken pox when he was only 4 weeks old which was a big worry but the homeopathic stuff worked as he didn't get them and the Dr was sure he would because I had not had them either to pass on any imunity. We both took the doses and no chicken pox so that gave me a bit more confidence in the homeopathic way. Can I ask though, did you recently get your MMR split up as I was " talking " to some one the other day from the US on another list who had gone in to have their son's MMR shot and asked for it to be split (which they had checked out a few months ago with the same DR and told they could) to now be told that it was no longer available and couldn't be done. It would be great to let them know that maybe their DR was playing some games? As far as the enzymes go I was going to use the Housanni (however you spell it) ones but I already get so many vitamins etc. from overseas and it costs me a fortune that I took their web page with the ingrediants etc. to my homeopath and asked him if anything was available in Australia that was basically the same and he came up with MD Nutritionals, Vegetarian Source " Digezyme " so that is what we have been using. He has only been on them about 8 months. As far as Dr G, hopefully some one else on the list could tell you that as we decided not to spend the money to come over to the US to see him as both our boys had been given official recoveries before we ever found out about him. Our homeopath/naturopath had already put our son on GFCF diet and vitamin suppliments etc. I came about Dr G's site by accident really but found it reassuring to find that he agreed with most of what my homeopath had already told us. Except of course, I know Dr G doesn't like a lot of natural stuff and prefers drugs which of course is the opposite to my homeopath. My gut feeling however was that traditional medicine had got my sons into this mess and natural had helped get them out and had heard the stories of regression etc. when new drugs were tried and was too scared to risk the gains we had made for any possible benefits. Maybe we've made the wrong decision - we'll probably never know. I like to stay on the list and keep up with the latest as of course I woulddn't have know about the enzymes if I didn't mainly just to see if there is anything we have missed trying. I don't need to worry about the middle one but the eldest is Dyspraxic and still has some learning/attention problems so I like to know what new is out there and of course it has been a wait and see with the youngest so I wanted to be on top of things should things go bad, but thank God they are fine so far. Re: Re: TEACCH program in NC - You have been alot of help. What enzymes are you talking about and does Dr. G approve of them? My 22 month old daughter is really fast about stealing food off her sister's plate and we do get runny poop immediately if she gets some gluten. It would be nice to avoid that. I think I have my 8 year old fairly well trained at this point to not eat anything I haven't touched, but I do worry about the upcoming teenage years. I have tried vegimite when I was fortunate enough to travel to Australia, but I agree that it is nasty and that your son's lunch sounds much tastier!' Despite signs that my 22 month old has too, we are vaccinating her - very slowly. We only do one at a time and space them out every few months. So far she is doing just fine. We also broke up the MMR and only gave her the measles so far. I'm so torn about giving her the vaccine versus possibly getting the disease. After she had pneumonia last year (at 9 months) I decided to do the DtaP because I knew that pertussis was going around and I didn't want her to get that. Everything after that has gone ok too. Have you tried mail ordering bread for Miss. Robens? Her ANDI Wonderbread is a big hit with my kids. Just a thought. ________________________________________________________________ GET INTERNET ACCESS FROM JUNO! Juno offers FREE or PREMIUM Internet access for less! Join Juno today! Guest guest
- Here's the address: www.missrobens.com I'm not sure if they will ship to Australia, but it's worth giving it a try. Also, they sent around an email with a phone number for stores to call if they want to carry Miss Robens mixes. I'll try to forward that to you. It's worth a try! As for the MMR, my daughter received the measels component last summer. Her doctor told us he would have to order it separately and to give him a couple of weeks notice before we came in. I don't know if they are still making it separately but your friend may want to call around to other pediatricians to see if they can help her. It's snowing today - I wish we had just finished 7 weeks of summer break!!! ________________________________________________________________ GET INTERNET ACCESS FROM JUNO!
