Guest guest
-- My autistic son will be entering a regular kindergarten class next fall and requires DPT, polio, and MMR boosters. My wife and I are afraid that the procedure might contaminate our son's system (negatively impact process) because of the possible damaging ingredients in the triple-shots. Does anyone have advice on where we might go in Northern California for single shots for DPT and MMR and where these could be covered by insurance? We decided to get my son's immune titers checked and it turned out he was already immune and did not need shots at all. For us, we didn't feel the need to stress his immune system further unnecessarily. As far as the school went, we got a religious exemption, which avoided the " mandatory " vaccinations. Guest guest
We gave our youngest son single shots for MMR... we were required to order the vials directly from the paharmacy and then take it to our pediatrician to administer. We were recently told that the MMR is not being produced separately anymore, however we were able to register our son by getting our pediatrican to sign a " contra-indication " on his school form thus giving him a waiver from any additional shots. Guest guest
Hi , Have you had your son's titers for these checked yet? If not, I would do that first. He may already be immune and not need the next round. Good luck,
Guest guest
From your note, I presume Dr G is treating your child. Suggest you seek his advice re splitting shots, or even getting your child exempt - immune dysregulation may be a criteria for exemption. multiple shots required for kindergarten -- My autistic son will be entering a regular kindergarten class next fall and requires DPT, polio, and MMR boosters. Guest guest
- That's good to know that Waverly will accept a waiver from shots. I just signed my youngest up to be a mentor in the RECC program and she hasn't had all her shots yet - actually, she only had the measles portion so now it looks like she won't be able to get the mumps and rubella separately. Any idea why they no longer sell it separately?? On another note, my son's special ed teacher keeps telling me about people at school who are starting special diets for their kids and giving out my name and number as a resource. Do you think there would be any interest if I started a diet support group one evening a month? Recipe, catalog, restaurant sharing ideas, etc. I hope all is well with you and that we run into each other soon!
