Guest guest
We had a CBC and a few other blood tests done in anticipation of our first visit with Dr. Goldberg next week. I will ask him to interpret the results we received when we see him, but if anyone can tell us whether they got similar results with their children, I would appreciate it. Jimmy is 8 years old. In his metabolic panel, his total protein and calcium are slightly elevated and his alk phosphatase seems quite low (92 with a normal range of 175 -420). In his blood count, his WBC and MCHC are a little low. His RBC morphology says " slight anisocytosis " and his segmented neutrophil is a little low. His lymphocytes are elevated -- 46 with a normal range of 20-35. Does this mean anything to anyone? Did any of your children have similar results?Get more from the Web. Guest guest
Good questions - I remember wondering what it all meant the first time for us. The results for every child will differ, so making comparisons with individuals is not a good idea. Elevated lymph counts usually mean presence of a virus - if your child wasn't i'll at the time of the test, then this probably is a first indicator of immune activity related to a condition, however the whole WBC count differential must be looked at in relation to each other. Other measures, can also be outside the normal ranges. When our son had his first test he had many measures both high and low. Now, after two years, his tests typically fall within the normal ranges. I have charted over 20 blood tests now and it is amazing to see the bloodwork begin to stabalise (for want of a better word) over a period of time. Your regular physician should be able to give you some help about each item, but will probably not be able to link it to a condition as yet. Dr Goldberg will! good luck. question about bloodwork results We had a CBC and a few other blood tests done in anticipation of our first visit with Dr. Goldberg next week.
