Guest guest
Hi Ri, If your daughter is really hyper, is it possible to use a mild sedative. One thing that we did, was bring along brochures from our local Autism Society (our son happens to be on the cover) that explains Autism to people who may be curious, or rude. The flight attendant actually wanted a copy so he could send a donation. We informed the crew as soon as we boarded what his condition was and that we were flying to California for medical treatment (that gave us a chance to plug ). We packed lots of sensory toys like squeeze balls and things like that for Matt to play with. We borrowed an oversized stroller from a friend with a physically handicapped son, it was perfect. You really need them staying put when you have to get out passports, etc. I don't know if your daughter has problems with her ears when flying, my son still has a bottle, so we gave it to him just as we reached the end of the runway. I found an ad for earplugs called EarPlanes that are made for children, they are supposed to regulate air pressure. They sound neat although I can't imagine my son keeping them in but here's their website, WWW.EARPLANES.COM 1-800-327-6151. I would recommend the Days Inn because it's within walking distance to Dr. G's. If you type in Days Inn, Tarzana on the search engine you can see pictures of it. That might be nice for your daughter to see where she will be staying. There are a lot of restaurants that deliver in the area, so it might be a little saner for you to order in and eat by the enclosed pool. The weather should be perfect. As far as seeing Dr. G, absolutely it was worth the trip. He had a wonderful manner with . There weren't a lot of surprises because we are so familiar with at this point. He was very thorough and we were pleased to see that he was completely familiar with 's file before he saw us. He explained all the irregularities in the bloodwork very carefully. And finally, it was worth the visit because he is the only person that I know of in the world that looks upon, and treats these children for what they are , kids. Don't forget to take a swimsuit.
