Guest guest
Hi, all, I'm increasing my fish oil intake after doing more research last night. I had been taking one gram a day, but have tripled that today. I skipped the Vioxx, and so far, am comfortable without it. Any other fish oil folks out there? I'd be interested in hearing your experiences/thoughts. Sierra
Guest guest
Don't know about fish oil and RA, but it will help lower your cholesterol. Guest guest
I haven't tried fish oil yet, but have heard of studies showing that it works to lower inflammation. I've also heard that about gamma linolinaec acid (probably misspelled that) which is found in Evening Primrose Oil. However, the doses that were shown to be helpful would have involved taking about 1/2 a bottle of capsules a day. Let us know how it works for you! Guest guest
Yes, I do a lot of fish oil...I use capsules ProEPA by Nordic Naturals but have also used Carlson's Omega-3 liquid fish oil. The liquid I did 3 tsp. (4800mg. of omega-3 fatty acid) a day. Now I take the capsules 6 a day which is 3600 mg. Be sure to use potent stuff!!! website is nordicnaturals.com for the capsules. Liquid must be refrigerated so I opted for capsules. It was easier. It works for me!!! I am drug free after 7 years of several drugs and very careful what I eat.. Good luck and God bless, Kay ----- Original Message ----- From: " snowdrift52003 " <snowdrift52003@...> <Rheumatoid Arthritis > Sent: Tuesday, April 06, 2004 7:01 PM Subject: Fish oil > Hi, all, > I'm increasing my fish oil intake after doing more research last > night. Guest guest
i am among a number of folks who cannot tolerate the fish oil as it comes back up for a week even when taken with orange juice or others. But, i am fortunate in that i can take flaxseed oil jel tabs with no problem and is a good source of Omega 3 oils. love... granny lee ----- Original Message ----- From: Jay Bishop Rheumatoid Arthritis Sent: Tuesday, April 06, 2004 9:25 PM Subject: Re: Fish oil Don't know about fish oil and RA, but it will help lower your cholesterol.Jay
Guest guest
i suppose that the various times through the years that i have tried to take it, it could have been rancid, but the chances that it was every time is a little slim, so just think it is my digestive system. can't do animal fat, peanuts nor black walnuts, so think it is me rejecting it, too. I was about 5 yrs old when first introduced to it, and the many times in the past 70 years i've tried, have had no luck. i usually end up giving it to some one who can handle it. "giver it to Mikie! he can eat anything!" love.. granny lee ----- Original Message ----- From: blair.family@... I've heard that when your fish oil is coming back to visit you hours after you took it, it was rancid. There is a product that I learned about for my autistic son called Coromega. It provides a high quality fish oil in an orange flavored pudding. Here is a link for more info and a free sample: http://www.coromega.com/index3.html )
Guest guest
I was in a study at Brigham and Women's hospital in Boston on the benefits of fish oil in rheumatoid athritis. I'm sure you can find the information on the web somewhere. But I tried taking the oil. Tooks loads of fish oil (I don't even remember how much, it was over 8 years ago.) But I hated it. I didn't feel better on it and I spent all day burping up fish oil. What a terrible after taste! Guest guest
sorry you had trouble with it, but it is kind of a relief to me knowing i'm not the only one<G> fish oil, black walnuts, all fats like from pork, especially bacon, and even beef and beef fats... belch is right! i can even taste it in the air like the grease when driving by one of the fast foods that use a lot of cooking oils. love... granny lee ----- Original Message ----- From: Rheumatoid Arthritis Sent: Thursday, April 08, 2004 4:30 PM Subject: Re: Fish oil I was in a study at Brigham and Women's hospital in Boston on the benefits of fish oil in rheumatoid athritis. Guest guest
Hi all, Has any one tried green lipped mussel capsules. I have heard that they are good for Arthritis but not sure if that is for osteo or RA? I am in the process of trying cut back the prednisone and just starting to hurt all over. I have managed to get down to 6 mg a day and i think I will leave it at that if possible. I have put on so much weight since starting the prednisone Does any one know if any of these herbal(natural) remedies conflict at all with modern meds? Cheers, ette

Guest guest
Cod liver oil is considerably different from the oil obtained from the body of a fish. Cod liver oil contains a lot of Vitamin A and too much can lead to an overdose of that. Oil from the fishes body contains good omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids but I don’t think it has too much of anything. You might check this with your doctor or a pharmacist. God bless.
