Giving Valtrex

Jeff,

I never worried about washing off the blue dye. I just crushed it up and gave

it in non-dairy Mocha Mix ice cream followed by a water chaser. If you give

medicines in something cold, it dulls the taste senses. When my son was young

that was one of the most difficult things for me to figure out. Bernie Rimland

was the one who suggested the cold stuff. He said to use frozen concentrate

juice, but the mocha mix worked better for us.

When got older, the way I taught him to take pills was by starting with a

small piece of a pill. I wrapped it in Mocha Mix ice cream so it would slide

down the throat easily and again followed it with a water chaser. Eventually we

increased the size of the pill and in time even left off the Mocha Mix.

That was a great day when he could swallow pills with just water. That meant we

no longer needed hotels with refrigerators to put the mocha mix in when we went

on a trip. Or worse yet, had to search for a store when we arrived that carried

Mocha Mix or Sorbet. Back then sorbet was not readily available like it is now.

Good Luck!

And call me if I can help with anything else. The worst stuff to figure out is

this kind of stuff. I can save you days of frustration, because I have been

there and done that.

We give the medications through an oral syringe. We crush up the pills and mix

them with rice milk or cold water and then pull into the syringe. Then one of

us holds her hands and the other shoots the syringe to the back of her mouth.

It's quick. When we tried to put it in foods she would always catch onto the

taste prior to finishing, which meant she never got the whole dose. Also, she

doesn't eat frozen things very well.

What is the officinalis tincture? Is this a natural anti-viral

combination? I might be really interested in going that route. We don't have

to pay the cost of the Valtrex, but I prefer a more natural means since this is

probably not going to be a short term thing.

officinalis is an herb commonly known as Lemon Balm. It has very

strong anti-viral properties and I have been using it with good success for a

year now instead of the prescribed Valtrex. I also grow my own Lemon balm

and make my own tincture. This tincture is available ready made at most

healthfood stores and online places.

There are a number of other herbs (as essential oils) with strong

anti-viral properties including Oreganum vulgaris, Thymbra spicata, Hyssopus

officinalis. Since I had success with the first, I have not used the others

for this purpose. However, I do regularly use Oreganum vulgaris for other

health issues.

Hope this helps

No, we are not his patients...... that is an avenue we have yet to explore.

Are you or your child a patient of Dr. Goldberg's? I have some

discussions with him about going the homeopathic route. Thanks.
