Guest guest
All I have to say is Wow...This has gotten quite out of hand. All someone asked was if this group was religion based, and now we have lots of posts that seem to have nothing to do with ASD and everything to do with religion and how it pertains to this group (as if people are trying to justify their religious involvement here - which they don't need to do since this group allows OT posts). I highly doubt this is what the person who inquired about the group's religious status intended... and if I were them I'd be scared off by it! Never in my entire membership on this list have I seen such a mess! Quite frankly, I don't care what religion any of you are. (And that certainly isn't for ignorance, as religion was one of my first major research obsessions.) No matter how much you believe in whatever religion you believe in, autism isn't going to be cured out of thin air (or prayer, or wishful thinking, etc). ***Religion will not help anyone understand autism: it is far too social a structure with far too many intangible concepts to serve that purpose.*** I honestly think the best course of action at this point would be to forgive and forget: stop trying to justify religion and absent-minded comments among other things - we all make mistakes and sometimes those mistakes accidentally offend people, but it is important to keep in mind that proclaiming why you're right can cause even more offense than just moving on. Let's go back to being the list we were before some poor person asked an innocent question. -Lana
