Guest guest
Hi All, Ratzlaff (CA Coalition Board member) and I sat in front of Safeway (Lg chain grocery store) today for 4 hours and collected $332.89 in donations for !!! We each set up a small table at each store entrance/exit door. Brochures, ribbons, and a coffee can with a home made lable " Donations " were our tools. We also put up homemade signs above the tables listing the more common diseases. We stood with can in hand, and asked everyone who walked by if they would help fund research for autism and diseases (very short and sweet, because they walk by quickly). We said no donation is too small, we'll take pocket change! Those who hesitated and looked interested, we explained breifly. We got 5 $5 donations, 6 & 10 donations, 1 $20 donation, and one check for $80!! The rest were variations of ones and pocket change ($147.89 to be exact!)...it all adds up. We were there from 12:00pm to 4:00pm....that's a little over $83 an hour. Many were very interested and stayed to learn more about and grabbed brochures. The only thing it cost us was $1.89 for a bag of candy we set out for the kids, and a few cents of gas to drive there. This is an easy fundraiser, that anyone can do. We called Safeway a couple of weeks ago and requested permission to do this--and that was it. Now, for the challenge. and I have committeed to do this once a month at different stores around our Town. We challenge you all to the same.....or even just do it once. Its a great way to meet people and educate your neighbors and community about . I will send you the brochures and a copy of our 501©3 non-profit status letter to have on hand. We gave large ribbons to anyone who donated $5 or more (this is optional....we just wanted more public exposure). Making a vey simple lable for your coffee can and a sign are easy and very inexpensive. We'll help you to help any way we can! Tina M. Hendrix Cure2000@...
