Skin rash??

Does anyone out there know of any connections between the kids and skin

rashes, beyond the typical Roseola rash during infancy?

My son (nearly 4 years old, not YET a patient of Dr. G's) has had a " ringworm "

type rash on his forearm for over a month now. Our pediatrician has treated it

with 3 different creams total and nothing is working. Last week a larger outer

ring came up and the new cream isn't doing anything but drying it out/irritating

the area so he itches it more.

We'll be going back tomorrow to see what else to do, but I'd like some insight

from this view if possible.

Thanks.

My son has skin rash similar as your son's. The difference is that he does

not feel itch. He got it after 3 month of swimming lesson. I took him to a

dermatologist, and was told it is not ring worm, but dry skin. He gave him

some cream, and asked to give him bath in warm (not too warm water) and use

Dove soap. After all this and applying Baby lotion after bath, most of the

rings disappear, and the first is also faded. Hope this helps. My son is just

turn 8. He got his first rash over a year ago. Just about a few months ago,

he started to get more. That sent me to doctor's office very quickly.

Just wondering if he could have picked up ringworm somewhere? I understand

it's a fungus, and the previous response I read mentioned she thought the rash

may be fungal.

Hello,

Mac had the same thing on the inner crease of his

right arm. I thought that thing was never going away.

It did indeed go away thru treatment and occasionally

now he will get a rash ring on his face. Small really

looks like dry skin. My personnel feeling it is

fungal. Keep strong on making sure your child gets

their anti-fungal meds.Hang in there, Sherri

The rash my son has must be a strain of ringworm because it is responding to the

anti-fungal (ringworm specific) oral medication & cream he got from his regular

pediatrician. He's been on the medicine for over a week now and the rash is

slowly fading.

Don't know where he could have picked it up, but at the chat last week I asked

Dr. G. about it and he said it isn't uncommon for these kids to get fungal

rashes.

Thanks for everyone who shared their experiences with the like. :0)
