Guest guest
Vaccinations... this is a subject that has been on my mind heavily. I'm sure this is an ongoing topic many, many times, however, I do not have time to look back in threads to find some answers I'm looking for. My older son is 10 and Aspergers (pretty high functioning) and has had all of his Vacs. My younger son is 1 (on April 24th)and has Down Syndrome and has only had his newborn Vac. I have been told by the DS community that there is a higher rate in DS then in the regular population. So as a result we have not vaccinated. I am concerned though because I feel uneducated about it and can't find the time to sit and read up on it and feel that I'm making these decisions from an uneducated point of view. I am also concerned about him NOT being vaccinated and what he could be exposed to...darn if we do, darn if we don't. I am asking the Autistic community to (probally) repeat your opinions and knowledge and feelings about vaccinations. I am going to post this on my DS group as well. Here was my idea, possibly vac., but when he is a little older and only one at a time so not to flood his little body all at once or not at all or? I know with my older son, he had adverse reactions with each vac. and had fever and the whole reaction. I have found a doctor that is not pressuring me and seems to understand my concerns and is ok with my decision to not vac yet. What to do, what to do... Any input would be appreciated!
