Guest guest
Hey guys, I was wondering everyone is talking about having multiple bmb, i have only had the 1 to diagnose. I am at about 9 months is it time to suggest another? My doctor has no plans to do one in the near future. if my wbc count rises anymore (15.1 last week) i was planning to ask for another but if i comes down should i still have another? God bless, amanda

God bless, amanda ____________________________ Hi , Your doctor needs to closely look at all your test results (wbcs, FISH if any done, pcrs, chemistries) and try to figure out what is going on with you. IF not already done, he may want to run a mutation test.......and also do a BMB to check your marrow and see if you have any other chromosome abnormalities. When things are not doing as expected (like a steady lower white count)....then everything needs to be investigated until they have the answers. You may need to push this doctor to do all this.....or turn it over to someone else to figure out. It may be nothing.....but you need some answers. C. Guest guest
I actually lost count of BMB's that I had figure 2 per year for 32 years but that may be too high or too low... I did not pay much attention to them until 4 years ago I had four last year and will get another in March this year but then back then they did not know what they were doing I think they did them cause they read some publications and they thought it was cool... my hips I only had one bad one... it was by a resident Hem doc she must have weighed 110 lbs and could not break the bone had to call in a male the wait until he came sure was long I think BMBÂ are the most accurate so I never minded. Guest guest
Like Lottie, I've had somewhere around 47-50. Being in 6 trials in 10 years requires a lot of them. and truthfully, I have been SO lucky, have not really had a bad one. Been uncomfortable a time or two but nothing I couldn't handle. What I couldn't handle was being sedated, it took me a whole day to wake up and know who I was! So just the numbing now, and boy, with all that scar tissue, sometimes it takes a while for her to find a good " spot " . In 15 years I have never reached PCRU, only 0.017, that was last year. It took 9 yrs to get to CCR, and that was with Sprycel. I am very happy to be where I am right now, on Ariad, and anxious to get the Feb. bmb done to see how I'm doing, and also very thankful for Gleevec which, although it did not work for me, it kept me alive long enough for the next line of drugs. We are living in a good time, I never thought I would last 15 years!!! Bobby a ( Bobby ) Doyle, dob 12/17/29 Brecksville, Ohio, USA DX 5/1995 Interferon 9 weeks/Hydroxyurea 5 years o2/2000 to 06/2002 Gleevec trial, OHSU 06/2002 Gleevec/Trisenox Trial, OHSU 06/2003 Gleevec/Zarnestra Trial, OHSU 04/2004 Sprycel Trial, MDACC, CCR in 10 months 04/2008 XL228 Trial, U of Mich.
