Thank you Tracey

When I was on Gleevec I was very pale but not so on Tasigna. Does Tasigna

not have that enzyme???

I think you may have misunderstood the explanation Cheryl. The gene that

causes CML (BCR/ABL) has nothing to do with skin. Gleevec however has a

secondary effect by inhibiting an enzyme called c-kit which regulates the

production of melanin. With melanin being in short supply, skin colour

becomes pale. This effect is due to the drug, not the disease.

Hi Sharon,

Tasigna does inhibit the same enzyme but it's possible that it has lesser of

an effect on it than Gleevec did. I think I've heard others say that their

skin was not as dramatically affected by Tasigna as it was with Gleevec.

And although it is raining cats and dogs here in Northern Calif.. in the

summer I tan beautifully and I happen to be a sun worshipper!!!! I love

being tanned. Born in Hawaii that’s why.

And I am on Tasigna too
