Guest guest
I am not familiar with the infrared saunas but sure they are an excellent way to de-stress and to detox. We have a wood burning sauna and take saunas every evening just before dinner on an empty stomache. We have been doing this for all of our lifetime and do not feel well when we miss doing so. Guest guest
Infrared saunas work differently than regular heated saunas. . . The air temperature of an infrared sauna is never very high . . . It just feels that way! The infrared light penetrates the tissues as much as two inches, triggering the release of toxins. When I used the regular saunas for an extended period, I ended up exhausted. . . With infrared, I feel cleansed and invigorated. Nevertheless, anyway you can sweat is beneficial. What scares me are people who say they can't sweat because it makes them sick. They don't understand that what they are experiencing is a Herx. . . So they need it all the more. . . but they need to start gently and stay with it! There are times when the towel I use as a mop has an incredibly horrible smell! . . . It's always somewhat stiff after it dries. Hugs, Rogene

Guest guest
Well crap! My husband and I went to the home and garden show yesterday and I had the stats in the literature I received -- now I can't find it. I'll post it if I ever find it. I have been putting our house back together again tonight. Many boxes to put away after our water claim and living out of boxes for 7 months. We are going to order a three-person unit. A friend of ours wants to order one too so we're hopeful we can strike a deal. It was impressive enough to interest my skeptical husband. Guest guest
An important thing the sauna salesman told us is in addition to drinking lots of water before and after using the infrared, be sure to take antioxidants because you sweat out a lot of vitamins. Guest guest
Rogene, Do you have any type of ionizer in your infrared sauna? The machines we were looking at yesterday can have one built in if we want. The salesman said sometimes the saunas can smell sweaty if you keep them closed up. It's only $195 but I don't want to waste the money if it isn't necessary. We have decided to put the sauna in either our extra bedroom or my yoga room rather than the garage. I think we'll use it more if it's indoors but I don't want a stinky machine inside. Kenda > Infrared saunas work differently than regular heated > saunas. . . Guest guest
Congratulations Kenda! You are going to love it! Don't you already have a steam room in your home? It sounds like your husband was easy to convince! We keep our sauna in our master bedroom; we have a two man Healthmate. I think a 3 man is a great idea--I wish we had splurged and gotten one just a little bigger so that I could stretch out if I wanted to! I usually sit up and read a book, but at times I just want to lay down. But I love the way it makes me feel. Your home is becoming a great little health haven for your family! Guest guest
Kenda, My sauna never smells bad. We've had it for probably 5 years at least, maybe 6, and it always just smells like cedarwood or whatever wood it's made out of. We also keep a towel on the bench to soak up any sweat, so maybe that is what is needed--we just didn't want to have sweat stains all over the wood inside. An ionizer probably isn't a bad idea. I just don't know how necessary it is. You could always use your FreshAir ozone purifier too, as that will destroy any organisms that shouldn't be there. We have the whole house unit as well as the portable FreshAir-to-go hotel unit, and the portable one is great for stuff like that. Guest guest
They really aren't all that expensive, maybe several thousand dollars, but spread out over a lifetime of use, it is well worth the price. You can search various gyms or health clinics to see who has them for public use. You might find that most places have regular steam rooms instead, but if you can find an infrared sauna at some health center, that would be your answer! Guest guest
I purchased my infrared sauna from Arizona Sun. It's portable and cost $600.00. I had to let it out gas outside the first couple of days but now I use it all the time. It is great and not as big as an investment. Guest guest
Hi Patty, I have all of the Fresh-Air units as well. They are what have kept me in this house while all the construction work has been going on. I was thinking about putting my Breeze unit in the sauna but it is more expensive than the $195 being charged to install an ionizer for the unit. I have my Fresh Air to Go already packed for the cruise! You never know when you might need it and it is so handy when you do. The salesman did recommend always having a towel in the sauna to sop up sweat so you're not staining the wood. I can't wait to get mine! The big question is, do we wait until the house construction is over in June or go for it now. We have to move out May 1 for 4 to 6 weeks while they resand and finish the wood floors, as well as paint the trim. I don't know if I'm patient enough to wait that long. A moving company has to move everything out. What's one more large item? Kenda > Kenda, > My sauna never smells bad. Guest guest
The company I am buying mine from builds their units but also offer a lower priced alternative for those who don't want to spend a lot of money. This sauna is made in China and sells for about $1500. The sauna we are purchasing is between $3,000 and $4,000 but is larger and is made better. Guest guest
Hi Patty, Yes, we have a steam shower as well. My husband has a lot of pain around his elbow from mountain bike racing. He has also broken his humorous, several ribs and torn his rotator cuff BMX racing. No, men in their 50's should not ride bicycles. We're hopeful that the infrared sauna will help his pain and help me stay detoxed. I would buy the 2-man but Jeff insists on getting the 3-man so we can kind of lay down. The unit would fit in our master bedroom too but it would block a window. I'm not sure I want to do that, although it would be really convenient. My yoga room is pretty small but it would fit very easily but again, would block windows. Since the room is surrounded on three sides by windows, I'm not sure it matters to me. I have nothing else in the room but I would like to get a monster-sized Stair Master and still have room to do yoga. The extra bedroom has my desk and main computer and fax machine. I'd like to put a bed in there but I don't think it would fit with the sauna. Tough decision. When company comes now, they stay in the sunroom. The room is beautiful and surrounded by lots of trees but the bed is a pull out couch and is terrible! Kenda > Congratulations Kenda! You are going to love it! Guest guest
$600 sounds a lot better than several thousand dollars. We sure couldn't afford several thousand right now. > >>> > >>> Infrared saunas work differently than regular heated > >>> saunas. . . Guest guest
It's very unusual, unlike the others I have seen -- a lot cheaper too. I'm going to stick with a 3-man sauna so we can sit or lay down but your model is a great option. Kenda > Yes. That's the one. Guest guest
We drink lukewarm water while taking our sauna so as to not be deleted. Guest guest
Molly, 10 pounds in 2 months is nothing to feel bad about. On average they say not to lose more than 2 pounds a week. I call that pretty on target. The main thing is to keep it off. Good luck!Kenda Skaggs <skaggs@...> wrote: It is very true, Molly.Kenda> If this is true then I still have a lot of stored toxins. ;-(> I am still struggling on weight loss. Guest guest
I guess that is one good thing about our wood sauna. When we are finished we hose down the whole room and it is dry within half an hour. glory2glory1401 <glory2glory1401@...> wrote: Kenda,My sauna never smells bad. We have the whole house unit as well as the portable FreshAir-to-go hotel unit, and the portable one is great for stuff like that.Patty>> Rogene,> > Do you have any type of ionizer in your infrared sauna? Guest guest
Yes, I know. I just have such a tough time thinking about how much I have to lose.
