Guest guest
I'm sorry to hear about your hair loss. I am also on Tasigna and was on Lexapro for years as well. I started Tasigna in June of 08. I took 400 mg. per day for one month. Then, in July 08, I started 800 mg. of Tasigna. Shortly after starting the 800 mg. (a few weeks) I noticed significant hair loss. I was extremely upset! I was losing lots of strands each day, it was all over my shoulders, in my brush, etc. My family said they didn't notice it, but I certainly could feel the difference and was always upset to see the hair on my clothing, etc. My dr. said she never heard of hair loss being a side effect of Tasigna. (I had been on the Lexapro for a long time, so I didn't blame it on that.) I think I experienced hair loss for about six weeks before it suddenly stopped. Even my hairdresser noticed that the hair stopped falling out and started growing in. She modified my hairdo a little to compensate for the thinning. That was in October of 08. Once it stopped, it grew in nice and thick. Now, I have pretty thick hair. It is shorter than I wore it before the thinning. I had layers cut as well so it would look better as it grew in. Mostly, people didn't notice, but I surely did. I blame the Tasigna. I think once my body adjusted, it stopped falling out. I'm knocking on wood that it never happens again. I think the nurse in my dr.'s office said she reported it to Novartis too. I hope your hair starts to fill in quickly and the thinning ends for you like it did for me. in NY
Guest guest
Hi Ladies, Tasigna has never affected my hair - it is just as thick and grows as quick as previously. In fact to keep it tidy I have to have it cut every 5-6 weeks or it becomes a birds nest (in my kids opinion LOL).
