Guest guest
Jan, I can't answer why your son has these swollen glands, but I did have kids that seemed to have chronic swollen glands. My NT son at about 2.5 had a swollen lymph in his clavicle area which my ped thought was really unusual. It freaked me out. She said it was not the body's first line of defense. the neck and groin actually swell first. Also under the arm, too. We had the chest xray which didn't show anything. My ASD son seemed to have swollen glands his whole baby/toddler hood. He is now almost 6. We did have his tonsils and adenoids out last fall which helped a ton. Even when he didn't present with symptoms of cold or strep his nodes were always swollen somewhat. You can always request some bloodwork to see if anything is elevated. Mother's instincts are strong. You have to do what you feel comfortable doing. If you can wait it out on the peds advice I would, if not- some quick tests might help ease your mind. Guest guest
My son has had swollen glands/tonsils, etc. for about a year now. I was hoping LDN would help but after ten months, it has not. I recently started supporting his immune system with thymus glandular and am going to be starting anti-virals soon. I can certainly relate to your concerns and wish I had something more helpful to offer. > > My son has had two pea sized swollen lymph nodes in his neck for about > a 6 months or more. Guest guest
Just wondering if having a massage therapist drain the lymph nodes if the fluid would come back. Maybe his body is fighting off viruses and the lymph system is just overloaded and needs help draining. Massaging in certain ways helps them drain. I would be tempted to try that and go from there. A chiropractor maybe helpful with this as well. I know with me if I don't visit my chiro every few weeks the pressure in my head makes me very prone to headaches and migraines. Like now, I haven't gone in a long time and I can feel the pressure in my head. When I get adjusted I can feel the pressure draining out of my head as I am leaving. It is a weird feeling but the result is a lot fewer headaches. I wonder because those of our kids who are vaccinated tend to have latent viral issues. I was also told by a homeopath that those who are more toxic are actually less sick because their bodies don't exibit the usual immune response that we can visually see like a runny nose. It is fighting viruses but you don't know it because of the faulty immune system. He could just be out of alignment as well. Lots of problems can be traced back to that. I would also be concerned about something like that. I have found that there are two times when a doctor will tell you not to be concerned about something. One when there isn't really a concern and the other when they don't know what is going on. You may try searching online to see if you can find anything. I wish I could help more. It has not changed or anything in that month. My son is not sick. He has had a few colds this year but nothing big. I know they keep telling me it's nothing, but I am worried about this. My daughter never had swollen glands that did not go away. Should I take him back about the inginual one? What causes this? Could this be viral or the result of metals? Anyone out there have experience with this I appreciate your input. =======================================================
Guest guest
I have done some online searching and found indications that this is viral or infection going on. Obviously, a long term one in our case. It list several viruses that can do this, some are in the vaccines. It also says that this can be a symptom of mercury poisoning. I am going to do more research and will post if I find anything useful. I am betting something viral is going on. It can be scary though, as this same thing happends in kids with lymphoma at the beginning. My gut says it's not that. Thanks everyone. > My son has had two pea sized swollen lymph nodes in his neck for about > a 6 months or more. Guest guest
Hi Jan, My son has the same problem. If it is a virus, would doing antivirals (OLE/Virastop) help address this virus too? Guest guest
Funny, now that I am talking about them, I checked him again today. I check his lymph nodes about once a week as they told me to monitor for changes. The groin one has gone down, and there seems to be another on on the other side of his neck now. The original neck ones have not gone either. My next thing was to try OLE. We have not tried any antivirals on him yet. The articles I have read mention the viruses that can inflame lymph nodes to be measles, mumps, rubella, HSV (one of them anyway), EBV, and a few others. In addition to bacterial problems. > > > My son has had two pea sized swollen lymph nodes in his neck > for > > about > > > a 6 months or more. Guest guest
The site I read some of this on is called Diagnose me. http://www.diagnose-me.com/cond/C110125.html I know someone that sounded a lot like you and they ended up removing the large gland in her neck. Just because it was always swollen and infected. But hers would become hot, painful, and she would get a fever. I attributed hers to the fact that she has some infected teeth on that side. So I do know that usually, there is a reason these are swollen. > > > My son has had two pea sized swollen lymph nodes in his neck for > > about > > > a 6 months or more. Guest guest
Hi Jan, This is a really interesting topic. My son had swollen lymph nodes in his neck from the time he was just over a year old (shortly after his MMR/Chicken pox/DTaP) until we started detoxing him. They were so swollen that his reg ped checked him for cancer. Thank GOD there was no cancer but the swollen lymph nodes in his neck remained. They didn't go away until we started chelating him. After (trying to remember how long) I think it was about 6 months, the lumps were gone. I was amazed and convinced that it was connected to the metals. We hadn't addressed the virals specifically so I don't know if it was from that but definitely could have been. His were so big that you could see them poking out the sides of his neck. Just bigger than a nickel. My best, Tami W Gavin's mom > > > My son has had two pea sized swollen lymph nodes in his neck > for > > about > > > a 6 months or more. Guest guest
Hi this is Madeleine from AUS, I find this topic perplexing aswell, my daughter has lumps on the neck and groin and under the arms and all the doctors arent concerned. Just recently we had to call an ambulance as she was hot but shivering and had a bright red rash all over her body. they diagnosed scarlet fever and she was in hospital for 25 days on IV antibiotics. It turns out she had strep and staff infection, she is also in my opinion toxic from the immunisations so have started her on NCD to try to get rid of these lumps, they are getting smaller but still there. will keep you posted on her progress. take care all Mad. Guest guest
I developed a swollen lymph node on my neck (just below my lower jawbone)when I was a teenager, it was shortly after having some dental work done. This leads me to believe, especially after reading these posts, that it is related to mercury. At that time it was extremely sore. I have amalgrams and other symptoms of mercury poisoning, and the lymph node is still there after all these years, although it doesn't bother me anymore. I only feel it if I open my mouth wide and poke around beneath my jawbone on that side. Very interesting.... Guest guest
Thanks for your message Tracey.  Diagnosed on 11/13/2009, been on Gleevec since then.  Last checkup a week ago showed low white blood cells, so stopped Gleevec and started Neupogen, last day was today, blood test tomorrow and back to Gleevec. By the way.. Since I'm new to this, what is considered " under control " with CML? -- Sent from my Palm Prē traceyincanada wrote:  Hi Danny, There are actually many possible reasons you could have a swollen gland with injury and infection being at the top of the list. Guest guest
Hi Danny, The important count you want to keep track of is your Neutrophil count. It will actually tell you much more than your white count will. Do you know what your neutrophil count is? Anything above 1.0 is acceptable. I have to assume that your neutrophils are seriously low for your doctor to put you on Neupogen this early?? By the way, it's quite normal for your white count to go low while on Gleevec, especially in the early days of treatment. CML " under control " can only really happen after some time on the drug. It would mean that you've been stable in whatever state you're in and the disease is not showing any signs of progressing. This can only be established after months of consecutive tests showing no increase in cancer cells. A regular blood test isn't sophisticated enough to show this, you would need a PCR to determine how stable the disease load is but once again, it will take time. Guest guest
Hi Danny, PCR is the name of a test that measures how much CML is in your system. There are three different tests that are used to measure the CML in your system. BMB, FISH and PCR. BMB (Bone Marrow Biopsy) looks at the bone marrow. It looks at 20 cells. This is usually done at diagnosis time by sticking a horse needle into your hip (ouch) and drawing out some marrow for analysis. FISH (Fluorescent in situ hybridization) looks at the blood (or bone marrow) and looks at 200 cells. This test is not used very often anymore. PCR (polymerase chain reaction) looks at the blood. This test is the most sensitive of the three. It can detect 1 cell in 1,000,000. One complication with this test is that they have not yet standardized how the results are reported. If you look at my signature you will see results from PCR tests that are reported as log reductions. There are other ways of reporting the results. Since you are new at this game my suggestion is that you get a copy of all your test results. If there is anything you don't understand, just ask. Once you see 2 or 3 test results it is very easy tell how you are doing. Aren't you glad you asked? Guest guest
A PCR is a very sensitive test that measures the cancer cells at the molecular level. Depending on the lab it can look at up to a million cells. The results are usually reported in log reductions. Anything more than a 3 log reduction is golden, giving you a very remote chance of disease progression. The difficult part for you now is waiting patiently for a trend to happen. It can take a year or more to get to the magical 3 log reduction so try not to stress over your results just yet. Guest guest
Hi Danny, This is not something that commonly happens but it should be checked by your doctor. It could be caused by a number of things but could be related to your CML as well and you would want to get that checked out.
