Oh, now there you go, we'll have started something and EVERYONE will

be driving to everyone else's house and who knows where that will lead! ;--)

I had a lot of fun too. Janice didn't say that I live in the middle of nowhere

and it's great to have company.

I don't do pecan pie, but now I think I might. I agree that this recipe seems

the easiest to alter with ingredients that an individual might like better. I

want to hear how it goes for you. I still don't have anyway to make

kefilli/kefir right now so I will probably try it with buttermilk.

Michele

OK -- so if they are using buttermilk, then kefir should

be JUST FINE. I'd guess the sour taste of the buttermilk

would nicely offset all that suger ... that might

be the best recipe yet! I'd vote for kefir cream instead

of buttermilk.

Thanks Heidi, but I can't " do " coconut milk or coconut water.

Everytime I do I get diarrhea. The oil seems to be okay in small

amounts. What about using kefir, cream, milk or...what else is there?

I bought a lot of coconut milk and water from WFN because I was

diagnosed gluten intolerent with a milk sensitivity but found out I

am able to " do " raw cow's milk in small amounts with no " feelable-

visable " problem. I may try it again after I rest awhile from it.

Kefiili has the bacteria in buttermilk (they add it to buttermilk

to make it taste more aromatic). So buttermilk is, as they say,

" an excellent choice "

See previous post. Seems buttermilk works fine, so kefir should

too. The danger would be in it separating ... cream is better in

that regard. Whenever I try to cook with milk I end up with

curdles (which it does whenever there is acid) so I tend to use

cream or coconut milk.

I don't think you NEED any liquid though. You can just do " chess pie "

with brown sugar and pecans and it would be excellent.

I would like to extend my sincere Thanksgiving wishes to the group. I see

lately we are all hurting in some way. Please remember as long as we are

breathing and some what healthy we need to be thankful. Our lifes with this

horrid medical condition can sometimes take a toll on all of us but we need to

be a survior. So, again I like to wish all of you a safe and loving

THANKSGIVING!

Dear Sue,

What a nice thought. I never thought of reflecting on how many Thanksgiving

celebrations since I was first diagnosed, just on the anniversary of my

diagnosis and that is not a happy thought that I like to dwell on. I am

thankful for a lot of things, and will add this one to my list. Thanks for the

reminder.

Fourteen for me,

Lottie Duthu

Oh Sue, that is just so awful for such a young girl.  I truly hope that this is

her wake up call to stop smoking.  Her children are so young.  I pray she

gives them up so she can see her children grow up.

I am sure you and your family are worried sick about her.  I also pray she

makes up her mind and for the love of her children, she gives up those wretched

cigaretts.

Hugs,

Barbara

We had some bad news the day after Thanksgiving. Our son Tom called

and told us that his wife, Sherry, had had a heart attack and was in

the hospital. She was having chest pains and pains coming down her

arm, so they called 911 for an ambulance. They kept her until Monday

and then did a heart catherization. They didn't find a blockage and

guessed that maybe the problem healed itself. A test of some kind of

enzymes showed that she had had a heart attack.

Sherry is only 39, so this came as a big shock. They have a baby girl

born in September, along with a boy, 3, and a boy, 2. There are some

early heart attacks in her family, but none quite this early. I hope

that this will at least get her to quit smoking.

that is scary. my oldest daughter was diagnosed with early stage COPD at the age

of 33. She quit smoking for a few months but when the scare wore off she picked

them back up again. She's had really bad asthma her entire life. this is so

frustrating as a mom.
