Rashelle, I think I will end up ordering those two for now. Do you know

when you will be coming out with the Latin one. I bet that one is going to

be fun. Also, one more thing. I want to phone my order in. What are the

hours to do that?

Thanks

Hi Geri,

Welcome to the list. We are so happy to have you here. You will find the most amazing people on this list, all eager to help you succeed.

Thanks for the nice comments about my web site and the videos.

I would say that if you have the Oxygen Zoo video you will be fine with any of the other videos since OZ is the only one that has complete instructions for the breathing technique besides the original video.

I have had rave reviews on the actual workout on OZ from the Mom's too. Actually, there are some out there who bought OZ for themselves just because they are like me, little kids at heart. When I created that video I had it in my mind that it would be a family fitness video, so it would have wide spread appeal and I thought it would be much more effective for the kids if they could get Mamma involved.

If you have any more questions I am right here for awhile. And by the way, we don't throw stones or tomatoes at anyone. We love you regardless of your choice of breathing program. LOL. We just want everyone to be successful and I will be happy to help in any way I can.

So glad you are here.

Take care,

Rashelle

Hello everyone,I just found this list today. How excitting!!!! Well, right now I am doing oxycise. NOW stop throwing tomatoes at me. LOL. I was at Rashelle website. I am trying to decided what videos to order. I want them all, but I can't afford them all. Any suggestions? Here is what I am thinking about getting for now. The stretchband workout. I figure this will be my toning. And I would like to get the zoo workout for my daughters birthday. She is going to be 3 May 14. They all look like great videos. Geri

Hi Geri,

Phone ordering is 24 hours a day. I have an answering service. If you want to you can send in your whole order without your credit card number on the website and then just call the answering service and tell them you did an internet order and just want to give your name and credit card number. They are new and I have been told they can be slow. This way you will save yourself lots of time and I will send you back an immediate confirmation via email and then complete the order when they give me your credit card information.

I hope to tape the Latin as well as the others in a month or so, then you can count on another month for editing and production. My guess is end of summer and yes, it sounds fun to me too! I am looking forward to all of the new videos. So far I have about 6 new ones in line.

Talk to you soon,

Rashelle

Geri,

Welcome! We love new comers and are so glad that you were able to find us

here. I think that you will truly enjoy being part of this wonderful group

of people. There are many exciting success stories and just as many of us

posting messages of encouragement and concern. You have definitely found the

ultimate in breathing methods. Life Lift is the cream of the crop, it just

doesn't get any better than this.

I would think that you would be best buying the original Life Lift workout

first, and maybe workout 1 or 2 along with the Oxygen zoo for the kids. The

stretchband video is fabulous, as well as the reflexology workout, but the

heart of the program is in learning the correct breathing technique. It is

very different from that of any other aerobic breathing programs, and it is

this difference that makes it such an amazing success. Of course, the video

recommendation is just a suggestion, Rashelle would know best, but for my

money, those would be where I would get started.

Once again, welcome and we look forward to hearing from you again soon!

Sincerely,

Tami

Hi Geri,

We don't throw tomatoes at people. We welcome all breathers here. Those two videos are good choices. The Oxygen Zoo will teach you the breath and the stretchband is one of the best ones Rashelle has done. If you can possibly work it into your budget, you just can't go wrong with the original video. It stands alone, plus you get the face lift at the end. Rashelle is the most beautiful in the original one in my opinion. It could be because it is like she is right there with you for almost a full hour. Very gently teaching and coaching you through this aerobic breathing process. It is quite different from Oxycise, so you might really consider getting the Original Video. The other workout tapes don't have the breath instruction on it, only the Oxygen Zoo. Good luck with your decision, I think it will be one of the best ones you have made when it comes to health issues. Very healing!

Wow Karma,

I can't add anything to this, I wanted to answer Geri, but my instincts told me if I just looked down the list that someone wonderful would have given her an answer. This is a good lesson to listen to your instincts. I am glad I did, because I could not have said it as well.

Thanks so much for all you have said here. You are just wonderful, as always.

Hi Tami,

Between you and Karma, I never have to worry that anyone will be left without a perfect answer.

There are some days I sit here reading your messages and you leave me speechless. I just sit and smile that warm smile that you can only have when you feel really, really loved and appreciated.

Thank you for giving me so many of those warm smiles.

By the way, I did stay up until 3, but I feel fabulous today!!!

Love and hugs,

Sherri,

You can't go wrong with the original video. It is actually the video that teaches you how to do the breath. The ones you ordered don't go into detail on HOW to do the breath. Rashelle is VERY thorough on the original video showing how to do the breath and then giving directions on how to do many different positions. It is NOT a workout tape though. Many people for years used this video as a base to build their own workout routine. Rashelle also shows you how to do a natural facelift at the end of the first video and she tells a wonderfully inspiring story called "Sugar " to help motivate you to not give up.

Only the Oxygen Zoo and the Original Video have actual instruction on how to do the breath.

Hi Sherry,

I have the original, workout #1 and workout #2. I really enjoy the

workout #1 video because of the standing leg-work. My sister has my

workout #2, and she prefers that one. She likes the sitting leg

exercises. I can't speak of the reflexology and stretchband, but

eventually I would like to add these to my collection ...so I like to

hear what others think too. I definitley recommend one of the 20

minute videos because then you can do your workout with le and

not worry about counting breaths. If I do my routine with the video,

then it helps me keep the pace too! Hope this helps,

Kayrn,

This sounds wonderful. So, do you show your son the video? If so, how

often.

Matt learns many things by video. It is a format that is always

consistent in response, and he loves it. I have never thought of videoing

him doing what I want him to do. He is also a kid who, how did you put

it, " is very dependent on adults in his environment to assist him in

maintaining his self control (in other words an adult always needs to be

next to him or he will do something that he shouldn't). " WHat a nice

way to say this. I have had a problem getting people to understand that

someone needs to be within arm's reach of Matt, or something bad will

happen. Glad we arent' the only ones. Please tell us more about using

videos.

A video tape to recored their kid. Neat, last year when I co-uped in an

autistic classroom they had to use a video tape on a child for like a week.

Her name was and she's I think in 3rd grade now. Well anyways about

the video. Her medication was changed totally, and she wasn't the way that

she normally was. She was not doing her work, she refussed to do anything.

She had to check her schudule everytime she finished something, and

sometimes she didn't want to and sometimes she'd switch the items that were

on her schudule. The teacher had to keep writting in inapporiate behaviors

on a sheet. I think she was in time out the most out of all the children.

I think she was in time out like 5 times a day. So about a few days with

and her misbehaving, they began to video tape her.

Hi Terri,

I have only received a few emails too, and I also have AOL, so maybe that

is part of the problem. But what is up with ??? Anyway we have the same

situation with Brook and the videos. When he was 7 it got really bad as he

would start self-injurious behaviors when we didn't get the video right. Our

behaviorist at the time told us to try only 3 different videos and then stop

for the time being. Brook too was unable to pick which one he wanted from

the cover, but he certainly could whine and cry when he realized it was not

one he wanted to watch. We have tried letting him pick his own videos with

some success, the last several years. It only works sometimes, as he still

hates the ones he has picked often.

As far as being verbal, Brook has only started trying to really speak this

last year. It is still very hard for him to do and a lot of work for us to

get him to do it. He is still basically nonverbal, although he does speak

more at school. They insist he speak before he gets what he wants, i.e.: " I

want " paired with many other words like, bath, cracker, drink, bubbles, tape,

etc. I just wish I could get him to do it more at home. I really hate to

frustrate him since we have had the self-injurious behaviors in the past. I

don't want to start that all over again. Yesterday was Brook's last day of

summer school and so now is the time he gets really frustrated and bored

anyway. The only thing saving us this year is our membership at a pool and

his floating swimwear bathing suit. It works great and he is never happier,

than when he is in the water. I'm just not sure I can get him out by myself

when I'm done if he isn't ready yet.

<<Maybe, I can get

to do the Tae Bo with me . He already wants to work out with his dad

when he sees him working out. He'll look for his dad and finds him

working out, then he'll say " let me see " , " let me see " approaching to

the workout equipment and of course his dad gets happy, shows him

some routines . Love videos , don't own any , now I

might . The reason why was looking for his dad was because

mother did not want him eating Ice Cream before dinner . I was

surprise he even knew how to do this mom & dad routine .

Irma, 13,DS/ASD. >>

Thanks for changing the subject line...I messed up and didn't do that.

Funny you mention Tae Bo because that and the were two

suggestions that were given to me by Ted's special education teacher as good

tools for movement that kids liked. I lucked out because I made 2 purchases

on ebay (new tapes and very reasonable!) and the other one

is Sweatin' to the oldies3. Ted doesn't seem to like this as much as the

Broadway showtunes. Ted is such a performer (or mimic) personality that he

loves this acting out way they do it and all the songs are familiar or soon

are!

Sometimes when Ted manipulates to his advantage...hehe...I see how smart and

sharp he can be! lol...

I goof up alot , sometimes I forget to change the subject line ,

too . I guess, when ever I remember to change it, it helps . Wow!

nice to hear from your bargain on your purchase . I guess , we know

interesting .

BJ is the same-His passion is Bear in the Big Blue House tho. He knows most of

the songs-he too is non verbal, so some noises come out, but he tries to sing to

the music :) very cute-he also wiggle s his but really well-and tries to mimic

bear jumping and spinning and dancing etc. We have

long play, and my child has been known to sit there for 6 hours and watch Bear (

he only gets to do this while I am at work, as Daddy sometimes " has " to do

work....grrrrrrr) but if you turn it off-in he comes running if he isn't in the

room.........

Hi,

I am new to the list. Actually I'm an aunt to a

lovely 9 year old with ds. So I am observing. I do

have to chuckle because Abbey loves Barney. I sought

out the list to be able to help my sister-in-law.

Now I understand that I can't really help, but maybe

you guys can help me to answer her. Last night she

called and was very upset. As she put Abbey to bed,

Abbey asked her why kids had to be so mean to her?

Abbey is in a special program, but it is in a public

school, and she has had the same teachers since she

was small. So those things are constant. Bev said

she knew she would have to face it someday, but not so

soon.

I am sure there is a lot of wisdom out there. Bev is

hesitant to get on a list. Afraid she will spend too

much time on the computer. She is also a single mom,

and Abbey has a twin brother Tyler who is fine. Your

thoughts will be appreciated.

Hi and Welcome! One suggestion that I have is to mainstream Abbey more and

get her out of the self contained setting. Her typical peers don't really

know her, nor are they being supported in interacting with people with

disabilities. I'd also have in her IEP that peer buddies be included to

help with social skills, etc. Each child can take a weeks turn to eat lunch

with her, help with reading, incorporate her in recess activities, etc.

It's sad to say but not everyone will be kind to Abbey. But the kids who

interact with her more will be less prone to taunting (well almost!).

Regarding the videos, I know my son does learn well from videos. But when

we made videos of his father and I demonstrating the skill we wanted him to

learn, he got overexcited. It seemed to defeat the purpose. We attempted

to get his cousin's family to use their kids, but they haven't followed

through for us.

I have even read that scripting a short play session for a kid with ASD

showing almost anything-ball play, turn taking, conversation-is reasonable.

So I would say the sky is the limit. There is a pamphlet available on

making videos for teaching your child, the info is on the web, but I lost

the addy when I got a nasty virus. Has anyone else seen the site?
