Guest guest
Hello! Jonah is 5 1/2. He does have neutropenic episodes, but does not fit any of the neutropenia profiles. He does not go down low enough for most doctors to even seem concerned. His low has been 500 so far. Honestly we get blown off by most doctors because he's had so much testing with no answers. They just say oh he'll grow out of it. Here we are 4 1/2 years later and still dealing with it. The one doctor that does listen says he's just got something they haven't seen before though she doesn't know what it is either It's very frustrating. I just had never heard of strep on the skin let alone the anus. What a mess. Thank you! -- [sPAM] Re:Breakthrough Colds/Sinus Hi , Does Jonah have neutropenia? We have issues with this and one of the precautions is avoiding rectal temps because there is such a high risk of infection there if the child is neutropenic. You didn't say how old he was, so that might not be a factor, but it might be worth asking the doctor to check if he's neutropenic if he hasn't already. good luck! , mom to 3 with CVID, on SubQ weekly http://foxfamilypidd bravehost.com/ __________________________________________________________ Climb to the top of the charts! Guest guest
yes strep can be anywhere. Remember Strep B on the Cervix and the concern for babies at birth from moms that are active carriers? It is unusual to get it on the Anus but I think there is probably more of it but it is not cultured to know what it is. It is probably considered a diaper rash or broken down due to diarreah or constipation. You may want to consider why the tissue broke down to start with and treat the underlying cause of the skin breakdown such as the above. Does he have problems with his bowels??? the infection could have been any bacteria it is generally where there is a break in the skin integrity.
