The gene that causes CML (BCR/ABL) has nothing to do with skin. Gleevec however has a secondary effect by inhibiting an enzyme called c-kit which regulates the production of melanin. I think I've heard others say that their skin was not as dramatically affected by Tasigna as it was with Gleevec. Guest guest Posted January 21, 2010 Report Share Posted January 21, 2010 Tracey, I was very pale also when on Gleevec and not so much now that I am on Sprycel..I do get a red butterfly shape thing going over the nose and checks at some point during the day/night.My Rhuemy just dx me with Fibro and is checking for Lupus and hypothyroid..I see him next week for all the test results..I am doing so much better on Sprycel.I am actually exercising again and off 1 of my pain pills..
