Hello,

I took my daughter to the Immuno yesterday and got her results. Her IgG

is 527 (should be 643-1446.) This is OK, we are just gonna watch it.

What shocked me was her IgE. It is 193 and should be 5-71. Yes, she

does have asthma, allergies, and eczema. Should we be concerned and

what can be done for this? I'm used to my son's selective Igg def. No

clue about IgE issues. LOL Now I have to learn something else. Why

can't they be easy????

Sterling's IgE is currently around 434. It's been as high as 600 and as low

as 130, but I know kids who have been as high as 1000. It is directly

related to their allergies and is an indication of how reactive they are.

The only thing you really need to worry about is ensuring that you have

identified all the allergens and are strictly avoiding them.

There are some kids who have a hyper-IgE, but those numbers are incredibly

high. Way above 1000.

IGE is what is responsible for allergic reactions. My son and

daughter(both with CVID) have a high IGE, around 500. Mine is over

1100, and my dr believes this is why I always am sick(along with IGG

def.......Im just allergic to everything!). Some people have good luck

with Xolair, I didnt see much improvement so I stopped the shots.

My son (almost 6) has Hyper IgE - Job's Syndrome and although his IgE is

high it isn't astronomical... he is prone to fractures, has osteopenia,

gets cellulitus and other encapsulated infections (lots of pneumonias), and

MMR and Pneumovax don't develop immunity. Its worth watching just to be

sure.

HI ,

My sons IgE was 656 last time we checked. Actually we were at the Immuno this

week and were looking at the results. Unless the IgE is in the thousands it is

an indication of allergies. My son does have a a lot of allergies. Enough so

that the immuno wants him to have an Epi pen available. Lucas before Ig had

hives, and many other reactions but now it has been greatly moderated. So has

your doctor done any vaccine challenges ?? A borderline IgG just says that it is

low but the sub classes as well as the antibody challenges tell you more of

whether what she has is working or not. As someone put it " shooting blanks " .

Hey,

We did the Hib and pneumovax 2 days ago. He will draw blood in three weeks and

at 2 months. She has pretty much what my mom and I have- he called it an Immune

Insufficiciency.

We also talked about trialing (my son) off in a year from SubQ. What he is

doing is that we will gradually decrease his dosage and draw blood levels as he

does this. He does not want to come off completely and get sick. This makes

so much more sense to me than just stopping. He will still be able to see if

's body " kicks in, " without subjecting him to sickness. Has anyone else

heard of doing it this way?

Our experience in listening over the years is that most docs keep the kids on

for a couple of years to give their systems a chance to moderate and heal. But

maybe that was with IVIg and now with the SCIg it can fix things faster. I do

not exactly understand how going slow would make a difference but sounds like he

has an idea up his sleeve. You may want to ask him what study he got the idea

from or something like that to figure out where his source of info is from or if

it is his own idea.
