Guest guest
Dear CML warriors, Before I start I want to state I am forever greatful for the wonderful medicine SPRYCEl but has anyone been aware of the tremendous increase in price. I do have Part D so I am covered by insurance but every increase I pay more. I am concerned that eventually the insurance will say that is enough. In 2009 over a span of a couple months the total price went up $400 a month. In Jan of this year it was still the same price I paid at the end of 09. Come time for my Feb refill it has gone up another $400 per month. The pharmacist said this is just a crime. I called insurance they blame pharmacutical co. I called Bristol Myers they say it is the insurance co. They both say it is the middleman!!! I expect increases but 400 is month is really out of line. I am hoping to get some help from Bristol Myers at least to get me through the donut hole. I was so upset I email President Obama. On his website it says he wants to hear from the public and will return our emails let see it that happens. Keep looking up Warriors Carolyn Kuptz dx 11-
Guest guest
I'll try to stay off my political band wagon, but... real healthcare reform is soooooo overdue! Have you contacted PSI (Patient Services Inc.)? They are a non profit which helps people with chronic illnesses who need very expensive medicine. They have been paying 100% of my share of costs for Gleevec for several years now. I feel very confident they can help you if you are burdened, as many of us are, by the unreasonable costs of our medicine. Their web site is www.uneedpsi.org . Please contact them, they are for real and very helpful! Guest guest
This is why we need health care reform! What if our insurance were to just say this is an excessive cost and we won't cover it any more? That would put us in a life-threatening situation. Email your congressmen and tell them that we can't wait any longer for this to happen--they need to get beyond partisan politics and get a bill passed that will cover all Americans so we don't have to live with this kind of anxiety and heartache. We shouldn't have to choose whether to eat or stay alive. The fight begins with me. Guest guest
What with the deductible and the co-pay, I pay over $400 on a yearly average. Add in the cost of the premium, and it's costing me $12000 out o fmy pocket a year for medical care.  I can only hope that I can continue working until there is meaningful health care reform. This assumes that the premium and the deductible-co-pay doesn't go up, or that the insurer doesn't drop me.   Hopefully, when I'm 65 and on Medicare, there'll be a significant change. Not if a certain political party has its way, though. Funny, how the way it works in America; the people who need to retire can't afford to.  > > > Dear CML warriors, > Before I start I want to state I am forever greatful for the wonderful > medicine SPRYCEl but has anyone been aware of the tremendous increase in > price. Guest guest
I agree. Those of us with med ins cannot rest assured that we are safe. Look at the profits for drug companies. Sprycel is costing someone $200-$250 a day right now. Most of us have an excellent quality of life. Look at how the cml population is growing! When I was diagnosed in 99 my onc only had 3 current cml patients. It doesn't take much of a leap to realize that the disease or treatment (bmt) was killing off lots of cml patients back then. . That $200-$250 a day that patients and INS companies and compassionate organizations are paying is LOTS of money in the bank over the long haul. We thought the price of gleevec was high, now look at how much the newer drugs are. My cml dr. Told me years ago that when there would be 3 cml drugs, competition would start driving the price down. Didn't happen. There's NO competition. Sent from my iPhone On Feb 12, 2010, at 3:54 AM, " Vicki " <vickistu@...> wrote: This is why we need health care reform! Guest guest
The U.S. needs to join the more civilized industrial countries by extending its successful Medicare program to all of its citizens and let the price gouging, claims denying private insurance companies attempt to compete. Medicare does need some improvements, however. Now it cannot negotiate prices with the drug companies. That needs to be changed. This is why we need health care reform! What if our insurance were to just say this is an excessive cost and we won't cover it any more? That would put us in a life-threatening situation. Guest guest
So strange! I just tried and had no problem. If it still does not work for you, you can phone them at 1-800-366-7741. I would try online again, the site might have been temporarily down. Remember, they are on East Coast time, not sure where you are.
