Guest guest
All, I don't post often but wanted to contribute to the discussion on Green Tea comments that I saw on the list in the past few days. I was listening to The People's Pharmacy radio show on NPR with Terry and Joe Graedon (we are fortunate that it's a local station located in Chapel Hill, here in NC) Servan-Schreiber, MD, PhD,was on the show on Friday. He is a neuroscientist and clinical professor of psychiatry at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. He co-founded the Center for Integrative Medicine there. He is also a founding member of Doctors Without Borders. His newly revised book is Anti-Cancer: A New Way of Life. What he discussed was - When someone is diagnosed with cancer, the doctor recommends treatment: surgery, radiation, chemotherapy, or a combination of these methods. But when the treatment is over, what can a person do to prevent a recurrence? Dr. Servan-Schreiber faced this question himself when his brain cancer recurred. He went to the medical literature to find the evidence on ways to strengthen the immune system and prevent cancer. And he found a great deal of science to back up the recommendations in his book, Anti-Cancer: A New Way of Life. The book has become an international bestseller, published in 35 languages, and it has just come out in a revised edition. What did Dr. Servan-Schreiber add to this wonderful resource, making it even better? Dr. Schreiber indicated that green tea - three regular size cups (not mugs) a day truly makes a difference - and is effective in turning off the growth of blood vessels that typically grow when a tumor is present (to nourish it) Here is the link if anyone wants to check out the particular radio show or just the People's Pharmacy in general. Terry and Joe are well known around the world for the practical and honest approach to medicine and for their research into natural medicines and remedies. http://www.peoplespharmacy.com/2010/02/06/757-anti-cancer/ Thanks all!
