Guest guest
I get this all the time as well. ~Romero~ Sent while on the road! [ ] Gleevec & brain power Hi, I am on Gleevec 400mg since Sept 2006. I am in remission. But I notice I cannot concentrate and focus like it used to be. My thinking is not as sharp too. Does anyone have similar experience I have when taking Gleevec? Also I am getting forgetful too.
Guest guest
I do too and if I stress it just gets worse. You can Google " Chemo Brain " . It is not a memory issue rather than a concentration problem. If you can avoid multi-tasking it gets easier. Sometimes it is very frustrating There are plenty of people on here that will chime in.. Guest guest
Welcome to the wonderful world of Gleevec brain... LOL, although I suspect most of mine is due to age, not the Gleevec. Think about it, just knowing you have CML is a trauma, you have had to learn to deal with questions of mortality, the meaning of life, fighting to stay alive and find meaning... it's normal to find it hard to focus on the things that used to occupy our lives. I personally think it is more psychological than chemical... but it is real, not imagined. Guest guest
My HGB is 11.7 in my last blood test in Nov. It was marked as Low. I have had off 2 weeks Gleevec (refill problem) and noticed I got more active and stay sharp most of the time. I feel like I came alive. But I am now back on Gleevec. I am less eager to do things or think. > > Hi, > > I am on Gleevec 400mg since Sept 2006. I am in remission. But I notice I cannot concentrate and focus like it used to be. Guest guest
Hi : This thing with concentration and remembering things has happened to so many of us. I started Gleevec 400mg. in 2000. I did not notice the concentration problem until years later, but I just live with it. I write myself notes all the time, and constantly ask my husband to remind me of things. I had something to do today, and totally forgot all about it. My husband was home today, and he reminded me. Sometimes I think I have Brain Overload. I get so many things going through my head at once that I need to do, and sometimes I think that is half my problem. Just know your not alone with this.
